The best (and worst) of the NHL’s 2022-23 reverse retro jerseys

The NHL officially unveiled the reverse retro jerseys for every NHL team for the 2022-23 season, and there are some real winners in the group.

There are are also a couple of duds.

What exactly is a reverse retro jersey? It is simply an alternate jersey that ties in some past looks with new color and design schemes. Every team has one, and they will wear them a minimum of two times and a maximum of eight times during the season. This is the second year in a row the NHL has done this.

Here are all of them in one picture.

So, whose designs hit a home run? How about the Florida Panthers who tied into the Miami vibes with this color scheme.

The most requested jersey from fans came from Islanders fans who wanted to see them bring back the infamous “fishsticks” jersey. So they did. They are called Fishsticks jersey because the guy on the logo looks like the Gorton’s Fishstick logo.

The next era of the Fisherman is here.

The San Jose Sharks also scored a winner here by channeling the color scheme and font of the old California Golden Seals, originally a 1967 expansion team that eventually relocated to Minnesota to become the North Stars.

As for the teams that failed on the assignment, or did not understand.

Detroit and Chicago went with the barber pole look, which is fine on its own, but they look exactly the same. It is the same jersey just with different colors.
