Ellen Barkin Testifies Ex Johnny Depp Threw A Wine Bottle Across The Room

More witnesses take the stand to provide testimony in the ongoing defamation trial between Amber Heard and Johnny Depp.

Actor Johnny Depp and ex-wife Amber Heard continue to make headlines as the trial continues.

The couple is facing each other at the Fairfax County Circuit Court. The “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor is suing his ex-wife for $50 million over a December 2018 op-ed Heard wrote for the Washington Post where she claims that she is a domestic violence survivor. Although she did not mention Depp by name, he claims that he has lost movie roles due to the “clear implication” that he was the “Aquaman” actress’ abuser. Heard is countersuing for $100 million dollars.

Yesterday, several witnesses testified to the bruises that Heard had received, including her sister Whitney, who testified that Depp had once hit her. On Thursday morning, Depp’s longtime friend testified that he “always” had a “jealous streak.”

Johnny Depp’s Ex Ellen Barkin Takes The Stand

Actress Ellen Barkin testified that she had met Johnny Depp in 1990. She said that they were friends “on and off” due to the fact that they lived on different coasts. However, they did star in “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” together.

Barkin told the jury that Depp “switched the buttons” in their relationship. She said Depp took the relationship from “platonic” to “romantic.” She then asked for “romantic” to be clarified as “sexual.”

“We had a romantic relationship,” she said. “Actually, can we change that to ‘sexual’?”

She said that she and Depp engaged in sexual encounters at least three to four times a week for about three to six months. She said that most of the encounters usually happened at her house.

During the time she knew Depp, Barkin said that Depp was “drunk all the time… most of the time… a lot of the time,” adding that Depp was “always drinking, smoking a joint.” She testified that he had also imbibed other substances, like cocaine and hallucinogens, along with marijuana. She called Depp a “red wine drinker.”

When asked if Depp ever became “out of control,” she said that Depp threw a wine bottle across the room. She said that a fight was occurring in the room either between Depp and an assistant or friends in the room. She testified that the bottle did not hit her or anyone else.

“I don’t know why he threw the bottle,” she said, adding that it was in her direction. She said there were also other people around her. She said the incident happened in his hotel room. She later said that Depp was the one who called off their relationship, saying there was a lot of “don’t do this, don’t do that” behavior from Depp.

She testified that Johnny Depp did not want her to go back to Los Angeles at the time.

“He’s just a jealous man,” she testified. She said that Depp got “very, very angry” after he saw a scratch on her back, believing that she got the scratch from having sex with another man. She said it was “very common” for Depp to act controlling or jealous towards her and said that he would also become “angry” and “demanding” during those times.

Depp’s Former Psychiatrist Dr. Alan Blaustein Takes The Stand

Johnny Depp’s former psychiatrist Dr. Alan Blaustein gave his deposition on January 21, 2022. He said that Depp used alcohol and drugs to cope and said testified that Depp had “anxiety.”

He said that Depp could become impatient and Dr. Blaustein was concerned about his Adderall dependence. He stopped short of referring to Depp’s inner “devil” and remembers the word “monster” being used in his office, but doesn’t remember if Depp used it to describe himself.

Further testimony revealed that Depp was unsure whether or not he wanted to marry Amber Heard. Dr. Blaustein wrote in his notes that Depp “may not want to go to marriage.” In another note, he also wrote that Depp referred to Heard as his “mother” and “psychotic sister.”

Lawyer Eric George Takes The Stand

Lawyer Eric George testified that Amber Heard followed all of his legal advice to avoid lawsuits from her December 2018 Washington Post op-ed where she declared herself a victim of domestic abuse.

The video deposition was recorded on April 5, 2021, and played for the jury on Thursday, May 19. He said that he reviewed Heard’s op-ed extensively to make sure that no “meritorious claim could be brought against her.”

He said that Heard “did follow” his counsel when crafting the op-ed.

Amber Heard’s Talent Agent Jessica Kovacevic Takes The Stand

Amber Heard’s talent agent Jessica Kovacevic from William Morris Endeavor testified that Heard had lost the lead role in an Amazon movie after the allegations went forward. She said that she also lost out on her beauty campaign with L’Oreal. She said that Heard has not been tapped to star in any other big-budget projects since she came forward with the allegations.

She said she had expected Heard’s roles to “increase” after her “Aquaman” success and had said that her career had been on an “upwards trajectory.” She told testified in her video deposition from March 1, 2022, that Heard had been expecting to make $2 million for her role in the “Aquaman” sequel before her role was cut down.

She noted that when “Aquaman” came out, Heard was “very well received in the movie at the time.”

“Everyone was very happy with her,” she added. “There were no issues.”

She testified that she became aware of a Change.org petition to have Heard dropped from the “Aquaman” sequel. She felt that many of the comments bashing Heard were “bots” as she said that the accounts had no posts and were only following Depp and Heard.

“No one out loud can say they’re taking this away from her because you know of this bad press,” she testified when asked if Heard lost out on jobs because of the “smear campaign” Heard alleged Depp launched against her. “Because it’s nothing she did, and it’s all hearsay … but there’s no other reason.”
