Jack Grealish won’t have any fear about stepping up for a penalty if called upon.

The England star reiterated that he was willing to take one at Euro 2020 when the Three Lions lost to Italy in a shootout.

Roy Keane led the critics questioning why Grealish didn’t take one but it wasn’t his decision as Gareth Southgate and his coaching staff picked the order.

Grealish put a post up on Twitter at the time denying the pundit’s claim he cowered away from taking one. But he will have his hand up if England find themselves with spot kicks in their last-16 tie with Senegal on Sunday.

He said: “I said I wanted a penalty but the staff chose. I couldn’t really do anything about it so that’s why I tweeted that. I’d definitely take one.

“I just couldn’t, whether I scored or missed, touch wood, live it down because I do feel like I’m one of the most technical players in the squad.

“I feel I’m well equipped to take a penalty. I couldn’t shy away, I couldn’t live with myself if I just didn’t take one so I would 100 per cent take one if it came down to it.”

Despite Grealish's confidence when it comes to stepping up from the penalty spot, the former Aston Villa man will be hoping Gareth Southgate's side don't require the lottery of a shootout on Sunday night.

While the Three Lions triumphed in their last World Cup spot-kick showdown against Colombia at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, their record before that game does not make for good reading.

Prior to that victory against Colombia, England had lost all three of their World Cup penalty shootouts – against West Germany in 1990, Argentina in 1998 and memorable against Portugal in 2006.
