Romelu Lukaku took out his frustrations on the Belgian dugout after the Red Devils crashed out of the World Cup on Thursday afternoon.

Belgium needed to win if they were to pip Croatia to second spot in the group – with Morocco winning in the other fixture. However, the Red Devils failed to find the net despite creating a whole host of chances, many of which fell to Lukaku.

The former Chelsea star hit the post and headed over the bar as Belgium's golden generation left Qatar with a whimper. Lukaku couldn't hide his frustrations after the game as he hit the plastic wall of the dugout, causing it to shatter.

Fans all couldn't help but make the same joke, that if he was using his foot he "would have missed".

The outburst came just seconds after TV cameras had picked up Lukaku having to be consoled by Thierry Henry as he left the pitch in tears. Henry held Lukaku up and could be seen trying to offer words of encouragement to the striker.

Other members of the coaching staff offered Lukaku a sympathetic pat on the back as they left the field.

After the game, Roberto Martinez confirmed he would be stepping down as Belgium's manager as a result of the loss.

Belgium's golden generation has now failed to deliver the World Cup trophy back to the nation for the past three tournaments – and Qatar was perhaps their last chance.
