A brave England fan was spotted snapping a selfie of himself and dozens of devastated Senegal fans.

The Africa Cup of Nations winners arrived into their Round of 16 clash against Gareth Southgate’s side full of hope and optimism. They even came closes to opening the scoring as Watford ace Ismaila Sarr forced a very good save from Jordan Pickford in the first half.

However, goals from Jordan Henderson and Harry Kane ripped the contest away from them, before Bukayo Saka popped up in the second half to clip home a third goal. And with World Cup elimination beginning to seep in, one England fan rubbed salt in their wounds by grabbing a selfie with Senegal’s fans.

The West Africans filled the Al Bayt Stadium with green, red, and yellow and provided an excellent atmosphere with their vibrant songs and dances. Unfortunately, some lightning fast England attacks sapped their energy and left them feeling very gloomy.

And it was at this moment one supporter got his mobile out, turned his front camera on, and snapped a photo of himself with their solemn supporters. If he finds himself in the wrong end of the stadium once again, he will be hoping he can do the same with the French supporters.

Up next, and ominous, but yet exciting, World Cup quarter-final clash against France awaits the Three Lions. Kylian Mbappe sealed Les Bleus’ place in the last eight with two venomous pile drivers against Poland.

Olivier Giroud also became France’s leading goal-scorer with a well taken finish. However, when pushed upon the prospect of facing Didier Deschamps’ mighty squad, Southgate did not shirk away from the challenge.

“The biggest test that we could face, world Champions, incredible depth of talent. outstanding individual players,’ Southgate said when asked about Les Bleus. “Very difficult to play against and to score goals against. It’s a fantastic challenge, a brilliant game for us to prepare for.

“The two quarter-finals already in place [also Netherlands vs Argentina] are fantastic, historic football rivalries and with great games from the past. A brilliant game for us to be involved with and test ourselves against the very best.”
