After being criticized and body shamed due to “fat photos” that emerged online two years ago, singer Aubrey O’Day has made a comeback in the sultry video to her new song, “Couple Goals.”

In an interview with Page Six, the former “Danity Kane” member lamented the public’s constant scrutiny of her physique since she was a young girl. The pop artist claims it is regretful that more people are interested in her body than in her talent, and this has led her to “reclaim” her body in the seductive visuals.

“My body is watched more than my talent, which is very unfortunate. But because it is such a thing, it was kind of like a reclaiming of my body,” O’Day told Page Six. Back in 2020, The 38-year-old was pictured looking “unrecognizable” in a photo by paparazzi, which she says upset her that she even had to defend herself during that time.

When questioned about the reason why she made her new music video only available on OnlyFans, the singer said she decided to do that for “many reasons.” According to O’Day, there was a need for her to adjust since TikTok has taken over the music industry.

The singer stated that streaming music isn’t lucrative for “90% of the artists out there,” so reasonably, a better alternative would be OF, where her fans would need to pay her directly to get access to music.

O’Day said that to continue doing what she loves, which is music, she had to find a means to make money from it, and going the regular streaming route just wouldn’t cut it.

O’Day, 38, addressed the accusations head-on and said that she had taken the images to turn her Instagram into a “museum of art.” After that, she shared a photo on social media of herself in a bikini hugging a man with a Jesus-like figure in “heaven.”

“I took the PJ to Heaven in the last 24”, she stated in the caption, saying she wanted to tell everyone how lovely it was. “I also ran into Jesus, and we hugged it out,” she added.

In her interview with Page Six, the songstress opened up about her desire to “protect” women. According to her, a lot of women “see themselves through the eyes of the person observing them,” and that’s usually men.

She said, “I haven’t always really been in that place, I felt competition against women. Most of my life I’ve been pitted against women.”

The singer says her former girl group “Danity Kane” didn’t create their issues and that it was the men around them that did. She added that there are so many “messages in the society” she doesn’t want to be a part of anymore and is trying to “gracefully bow out” of the ones she doesn’t believe in while being clear about the ones she does.

According to her, 90% of the stories written about her usually focus on the men she dates and what she looks like, a narrative that she is changing.
