The British actress appears alongside the Hollywood icon in the period comedy-drama Babylon, which is set to be released in the UK in January.

The film follows aspiring star Nellie (played by Robbie) who enlists the help of Manny (played by Diego Calva) and Jack (played by Pitt) in her quest to make a name for herself in Hollywood in the 1920s.

Released ahead of the 2023 Academy Awards, the stellar cast also includes Tobey Maguire and Eric Roberts.

During a recent interview with E!News Robbie opened up about sneaking in an unscripted smooch with Pitt.

Although the pair have previously appeared on screen together, Robbie revealed that she thought it might be her only chance to lock lips with the star.

“That wasn’t in the script,” she said. “But I thought, ‘when else am I gonna get the chance to kiss Brad Pitt? I’m just gonna go for it.’”

She went on to explain that she had to pitch the idea to director Damien Chazelle before the cameras started rolling.

She went on: “I said, ‘Damien, I think Nellie would just go up and kiss Jack’.

“And Damien was like, ‘Well, she could – wait, hold on. You just wanna kiss Brad Pitt.’

“And I was like, ‘Oh, so sue me. This opportunity might never come up again.’ And he was like, ‘It does work for the character,’ and I was like, ‘I think so.'”

After seeing the duo share a ‘great kiss’ Chazelle was utterly convinced and insisted that the scene stayed in the movie.

“He was like, ‘No, do it again. That really works,'” Margot joked. “I was like, ‘Oh, great.’”

Babylon will be the first movie Chazelle has directed since 2018’s First Man – a biopic about the life of astronaut Neil Armstrong.

Chazelle told the TIFF audience in September: “After the quietness of First Man, I wanted to do something boisterous and loud… We want to do away with pre-conceptions of the era.”
