Does Daredevil's MCU Show Mean Other Marvel Netflix Series Will Return?

Daredevil revival TV series is reportedly in development for Disney+, which could mean that the other MCU Netflix shows will return as well. Daredevil was the first of six Netflix TV shows that, despite Kevin Feige’s lack of involvement, are meant to be set in the MCU. With the Charlie Cox iteration of Matt Murdock and Vincent D’Onofrio version of Wilson Fisk officially part of the MCU and a Daredevil revival on the way, the chances of other MCU Netflix revivals seem more promising than ever.

The six MCU Netflix shows are generally quite popular and well-received, but their lack of creative oversight from Kevin Feige plus their eventual cancellation prompted the question as to their canonicity within the franchise. Once D’Onofrio’s Kingpin appeared in Hawkeye and Cox’s Matt Murdock showed up in Spider-Man: No Way Home, it became clear that the MCU franchise was easing Daredevil back into its overarching narrative. Whether or not the Netflix Daredevil series is fully MCU canon has yet to be seen, but if the planned revival depicts Kingpin as being aware of Daredevil’s civilian identity, for instance, it’s safe to assume that Daredevil and the five other Netflix shows are canonical.

While Marvel has yet to officially announce a Daredevil revival, the show is all but confirmed to be coming to Disney+, making the odds of other Netflix MCU shows coming back likely. When asked directly about other Netflix Marvel shows coming back, Feige gave a noncommittal answer, but he teased the possibility of the Netflix lineup returning. With Daredevil being the only Netflix show to be revived thus far, its success may determine whether or not the other five shows return as well.

Daredevil is easily the most popular of the six MCU Netflix shows, so the series might be used as a test to see how well the former Netflix content performs on Disney+ and with Kevin Feige’s creative oversight. If Daredevil is an overwhelming success, which could easily be the case, Marvel Studios may revive the other five shows, integrating them into the greater MCU as well. Changes in creative teams and Feige’s involvement can also help redeem certain properties in the eyes of viewers.

While the MCU Netflix shows are generally well-liked, Iron Fist and The Defenders are considered to be the weakest of the six. If all of the MCU Netflix shows return, there could be new creative teams and directions for both of those lesser-received properties, perhaps based on the successful elements of Daredevil and the others. Although the return of Marvel’s other Netflix shows seems likely now, the viewership and reception of the Daredevil revival could be what ensures or prevents the rest of the lineup from coming back.
