LOTR: The Rings of Power Adds Additional New Cast Members Including Sandman And Doctor Who Alumni

Amazon Prime Video has announced an additional eight new recurring cast members for the forthcoming second season, currently in production in the UK. This is already on top of the seven new members revealed last week, along with the news that Adar would be recast.

The new cast members, Oliver Alvin-Wilson ( Lovesick), Stuart Bowman (Versailles), Gavi Singh Chera (The Lazarus Project), William Chubb (The Sandman), Kevin Eldon (Doctor Who), Will Keen (The Crown), Selina Lo (Hulu’s Hellraiser), and Calam Lynch (Dunkirk), come from a variety of backgrounds, mainly television and film with some coming from the British theater scene.

The official Lord of the Rings Twitter account posted a thread with the eight actors heading to Middle Earth, starting with Oliver Alvin-Wilson, who you might have recognized from Wonder Woman 1984, or caught performing live for the Royal Shakespeare Company.

The new names join Gabriel Akuwudike, Yasen “Zates” Atour, Ben Daniels, Amelia Kenworthy, Nia Towle, and Nicholas Woodeson in unrevealed roles at this time. There are hundreds of unnamed characters in the Lord of the Ring mythos, including some of the Nine Kings who would later become the Nazgul, so anybody’s guess is game.

According to the streaming service, Season One of The Rings of Power had been viewed by more than 100 million people worldwide, with more than 24 billion minutes streamed.
