Disney+’s ‘The Santa Clauses’ Explains Bernard’s Absence From North Pole in Newest Episode

David Krumholtz’s Bernard finally made his return to the world of The Santa Clause in the latest episode of Disney+’s The Santa Clauses.

The former head elf was welcomed back to the elven world and immediately explained just where he’d been for the past 20 years.

David played Bernard in the first two films, but was missing from the third, The Escape Clause. At the time that it came out, the actor was in the middle of filming Numb3rs, a CBS series which ran from 2005 to 2010.

In his return, Bernard explains that at the time of his departure from the North Pole, he was embarking on Kribble-Krabble, which is described as the elf equivalent of Rumspringa, and then decided to join the human world instead of returning.

“I met someone,” he says. “A human. So I made the jump and gave up eternal youth.”

Bernard then revealed the person who he fell in love with – Oscar winner Vanessa Redgrave!

“We’re several hundred years apart,” he explains, “but we still find things to talk about.”
