9 Questions I Need Netflix’s “That ’90s Show” To Answer

The Forman basement is coming back to us! Netflix’s That ’90s Show, a sequel to the beloved sitcom That ’70s Show, is set to premiere Jan. 19.

If their daughter is 15 and That ’90s Show starts 15 and a half years after the finale of That ’70s Show…they must have gotten back together FAST. Was their daughter conceived on New Year’s Eve, or what? I need details!

2. Also, how the heck did Jackie and Kelso end up together?!

Fox

Look, I hated Jackie and Fez together as much as anyone, but…she got back together with Kelso? It’ll be cute to see Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher together onscreen again since they’re married in real life, but I’m still skeptical. Even Kunis herself isn’t sure about this storyline.

3. Speaking of, what happened to Kelso and Brooke’s daughter?

Fox

Kelso and Brooke’s daughter, Betsy, was born in Season 7. The end of the series hinted that Kelso and Brooke were giving their romance another shot — did that just not work out? Will Betsy be in That ’90s Show, or will she get the Ben-from-Friends treatment?

4. What’s Eric’s sister, Laurie, up to?

Fox / Everett Collection

The original actor, Lisa Robin Kelly, died in 2013. However, Laurie’s character was already recast with Christina Moore for Season 6, so it’s possible she could make an appearance. I’m curious if she ever got her life together and what her and Eric’s relationship is like as adults.

5. How will the show address Hyde’s absence, if at all?

Fox / Everett Collection

To be clear, the real-life situation with Danny Masterson is MUCH more important than any fictional character or ship, and I’m very glad he isn’t involved with the show. However, given that Hyde was such a prominent character in the original series, I’m curious how they’re going to address his absence, or if they’ll even acknowledge his character at all.

6. Who will be the new Eric and Donna?

Frustrating as they may have been at times, we were all deeply invested in Eric and Donna’s romance. So, who’s going to be this generation’s power couple? The new crew includes the Forman’s neighbor Gwen (Ashley Aufderheide), her brother, Nate (Maxwell Acee Donovan), his girlfriend, Nikki (Sam Morelos), and their friends Ozzie (Reyn Doi) and Jay (Mace Coronel). Is there a possible love triangle brewing? Will there be any queer representation this time around? I’m eager to see!

7. What ’90s stuff can we look forward to seeing?

Netflix

The summer of 1995 was full of Clueless, Batman Forever, pogs, and “The Macarena.” Since each season is supposed to take place during summer, it will be interesting to see if other major events from the overall year will be incorporated as well. I’m also curious about what the fashion is going to look like.

8. What careers did the OG characters go on to have?

Fox

The series will be primarily focused on the new group of kids, but since most of the OG characters are making guest appearances, I want to know what they ended up doing with their lives! Is Eric still a teacher? Is Donna a major radio celebrity now? Is Kelso still a cop? What the heck is Fez doing these days?

9. And finally, are we just going to pretend that Randy doesn’t exist?

Fox / Everett Collection

No hate at all to the actor, but I’m fine with simply forgetting about Randy. He could NEVER replace Eric!

You can stream That ’90s Show on Netflix starting Jan. 13.
