Idina Menzel Documents Heartbreaking Unsuccessful IVF Journey For 2nd Child
Idina Menzel reveals in her new documentary that she tried and failed to have a second child with her second husband Aaron Lohr.
Idina Menzel Wanted Another Child
The Broadway actress expressed that at one point, she desired to have another child and this time with her second husband. She immediately opted for IVF to have a better chance due to her age. She knew the moment would be big for her, so she included it in a documentary that is now ready to be released.
“No matter what the outcome, I just wanted women to feel seen in this film and people to understand what we go through,” the 52-year-old told People magazine. “It was important to me to forgo the privacy of that and allow people to have a little window into that experience.”
The documentary titled; Idina Menzel: Which Way to the Stage? was a personal journey for Menzel who has been in this business for over 20 years.
Idina Menzel Is A Mom Already
The actress shared that initially, Lohr didn’t want his own children and Menzel was content with the one. But parenting Walker intrigued Lohr and watching him be a parent made Menzel happy, so they changed their minds.
“Maybe before meeting me, [Lohr] didn’t think he wanted to have kids, and then he sees how good of a dad he can be, so I wanted that for him,” she admits. “I didn’t think I wanted to have a baby, but then Aaron has been the most amazing man to my son.”
The baby never came to fruition and while that was a hard moment for the couple, she says they “moved beyond” that moment and on to better ones.
Idina Menzel Is Happy She Has At Least One Child
The Disenchanted actress didn’t allow the moment to get her down for too long she focused on the fact that she does have a child and had a great, easy pregnancy.
“I have this amazing son, and I was fortunate enough to have him,” she said. “And the pregnancy was pretty easy and I conceived easily, and there’s a lot of people that don’t even get to have that.”
Lohr is also thankful for Walker. While she says he is thankful for her putting her body through all of that, he isn’t disappointed. “He sees Walker as his own kid at this point anyway,” she said. “I think we feel content and lucky with what we have.”
