The life of a mixed martial arts stud is far from being all glitz and glamour, as Paddy Pimblett demonstrated during his days in the Cage Warriors spotlight.

The UFC up-and-comer marked one of his grisliest moments in the cage after successfully defending his Cage Warriors featherweight belt in November 2016. However, fans were horrified when 'The Baddy' cut short his post-fight interview to vomit dark brown liquid all over the mat.

Witnesses naturally sympathised for Pimblett after assuming he had spewed up blood in the aftermath of a gruelling contest against Julian Erosa. The Merseysider looked close to defeat at one point following a knee to the face, and spectators might be forgiven for thinking the post-fight puking came as a result of something serious.

But The Baddy set minds at ease when he revealed the truth was in fact far sweeter. Pimblett has made no secret of his affection for food when he's not focused on dieting, but the chocolate came back to bite him at Cage Warriors: Unplugged 1.

Going against the advice of his team, the 27-year-old treated himself to Italian chocolate and cocoa as a warm-up. While it may have hit the spot on the way down, Pimblett couldn't say the same when it hit back.

“I’d like to thank everyone for all the kind messages asking about my health. I didn’t spew blood it was hot chocolate and Ferrero Rocher I’d consumed,” he wrote on Instagram at the time.

The lightweight star would appear to have learnt his lesson considering he hasn't had any similar instances of post-match vomiting since then. However, the chocolate chunder did serve as a bad omen given Pimblett lost his Cage Warriors featherweight belt to Nad Narimani in his following bout.

Fast-forward six years or so and he's hoping to advance his hopes for the UFC's 155-pound crown by defeating Jared Gordon at UFC 282 on Saturday. Pimblett has voiced his appreciation for 'Flash', who has overcome addiction and was once declared "legally dead for two minutes," but he's nonetheless predicting a quick KO finish.

One can bet Ferrero Rocher (or chocolate in general) is no longer on Pimblett's list of pre-fight foods, with his focus instead largely on the post-fight feast. He has a chance to go 4-0 in the UFC with a win over Gordon, hoping to maintain his 100 per cent finishing record in the world's leading MMA promotion.
