Tory Lanez Breaks Silence On Additional Felony Charge News With Hopeful Message

Tory Lanez is speaking up soon after getting hit with a third felony charge amid his ongoing court case with Megan Thee Stallion.

The opposing duo has been battling it out since October 2020, when the district attorney’s office hit Lanez with felony assault with a semi-automatic firearm and a second charge for carrying a loaded and unregistered gun. The proceedings began after the rapper allegedly shot and injured Stallion in July 2020. Lanez faces at least 22 years in prison if found guilty of the charges.

Tory Lanez Is Accused Of Discharging A Firearm With Gross Negligence Ahead Of Trial

Prosecutors have added a charge of discharging a firearm with gross negligence to Lanez’s felony counts. This development comes after the Canadian native pled not guilty to the two felony counts we mentioned above while also facing the accusation that he inflicted “great bodily injury.”

Although “The Color Violet” hitmaker’s latest charge does not only add anything to the case, it does with a possible six-year jail term. It also opens him up to possible deportation from the United States.

Lanez — real name Daystar Peterson — is alleged to have pointed a semi-automatic handgun at Stallion’s feet, yelling, “Dance, b*tch!” before opening fire. The pair, who were good friends at the time, had been riding in a Cadillac Escalade alongside Stallion’s best friend, Kelsey Harris, and Lanez’s bodyguard when an argument prompted the Texas native to exit the car.

A Los Angeles Police Department detective assigned to the case two days after the shooting interviewed Stallion over the phone twice — once on July 16 and again on November 12, 2020. During his testimony, the detective— Ryan Stogner, recalled:

“As she exited the vehicle, she heard Mr. Peterson yelling obscenities at her, and he stated, ‘Dance, b*tch!’ And he then began firing a weapon at her.”

After clarifying that Stallion — real name Megan Pete — initially lied to authorities by claiming that she stepped on glass, Stogner added that the “Captain Hook” singer was “terrified and embarrassed” at the time and did not want Lanez to get into trouble.

Stogner also disclosed that medical records from Cedars-Sinai Hospital doctors confirmed that bullet fragments were found in the “WAP” hitmaker’s two feet. As the case moves to trial, jury selection has begun, with both sides preparing to take their opening statements on December 12, 2022.

Despite the legal hurdles before him, Lanez showed his hopeful side when he took to Twitter to inform his 2.2 million followers, “No weapon formed against me shall prosper …. EVER.”

The tweet immediately got mixed reactions from fans and critics, with one Twitter user responding, “the district attorney might prosper tho.” Another person dropped a clip from Tyler Perry’s stage play, “Madea’s Big Happy Family,” that showed one of the stars singing, “the popo gon’ be knocking at yo door.”

A third user asked, “but u pulled the weapon ?” and a fourth countered, “What if u are the one who formed the weapon?” A fifth observer added, “it looks like those weapons are prospering!”

Kylie Jenner Set To Testify For Lanez In Court

The Blast reported that the possible witness list for the upcoming trial includes reality star Kylie Jenner and business exec, Corey Gamble. The two were reportedly at the pool party — held at Jenner’s residence — which the rapper, Stallion, and her ex-bestie also attended.

The trio was seen partying together before leaving in Lanez’s vehicle. The shooting incident occurred just a few moments after they exited the bash. Giving out some facts about the upcoming trial, Nancy Dillon, a reporter, tweeted:

“Tory’s lawyer told the judge that Kylie Jenner and Corey Gamble are on his list of possible defense witnesses because they were present at Kylie’s pool party before the July 2020 shooting. ‘The argument, everything started there,’ George Mgdesyan says.”

“To clarify: Tory’s lawyer admitted in court he doesn’t have witness statements from Kylie Jenner or Corey Gamble yet (prosecutors asked). So it’s not clear what they might say if it would even be relevant,” Dillion continued. She concluded with information that Lanez’s house arrest was over, ahead of the trial starting next week.
