The CW's latest addition to the Arrowverse, Gotham Knights, will tell the story of Batman's legacy in Gotham after Bruce Wayne's death.

Everything We Know About Gotham Knights' Batman Spin-Off

The CW is officially bringing Gotham Knights into the Arrowverse. Originally announced by The CW in December 2021, Gotham Knights’ production has begun picking up steam. With a pilot episode ordered in February 2022, The CW officially picked up Gotham Knights in May 2022 to join the Arrowverse.

The CW has continued to forge ahead with production on Gotham Knights even amid the well-publicized troubles of the Arrowverse. Even as Gotham Knights was filming its pilot, the cancellation of two major Arrowverse shows – Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman – seemed to indicate that the long-running TV franchise’s future might be in jeopardy. Gotham Knights will join the Arrowverse’s currently remaining shows, The Flash and Superman & Lois.

As the name implies, the show will be based on a team of Gotham-based heroes. Interestingly, this draws a parallel with the recently canceled Batwoman, which focused on the titular hero in the wake of Batman’s disappearance. Though Gotham Knights is still relatively early on in its production, there is much that’s already known about the series.

Who Are Gotham Knights In The Comics?

In the comics, the Gotham Knights are a team made up of Batman’s allies. A stricter and more militant incarnation of the Batman Family, the Gotham Knights has included the likes of Batman, Batwing, Batwoman, Red Robin, Azrael, Cassandra Cain, and Stephanie Brown. The Gotham Knights also once included traditional Batman villain Clayface.

Gotham Knights Cast: Who Every Actor Plays

Gotham Knights’ cast will feature Oscar Morgan as Turner Hayes (Bruce Wayne’s adopted son), Fallon Smythe as Harper Row (Bluebird), Tyler DiChiara as Cullen Row, and Olivia Rose Keegan as Duela. It will also feature Navia Robinson as Carrie Kelley, Anna Lore as Stephanie Brown, and Misha Collins as Havey Dent. In addition, Rahart Adams has been cast as Brody.

Gotham Knights Story & Timeline Explained

Gotham Knights‘ story takes place in the aftermath of the death of Batman. Following Turner Haynes, Bruce Wayne’s adopted son, Gotham Knights will see him form an alliance with the children of Batman’s enemies after they are framed for Bruce’s murder. Therefore, its place in the Arrowverse timeline will likely be later than Batwoman‘s, although this has yet to be confirmed.

When Will Gotham Knights Release Date Be?

As Gotham Knights is still in production, the most recent update doesn’t offer a specific timeline for its release. However, The CW has indicated that it will release in 2023. As its production is well underway, it’s possible that it may release early in the year, though this has yet to be confirmed.
