The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Sites Tour Is An Unforgettable Fan Experience

Screen Rant joined The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Sites Tour, a New York City-based experience where fans can visit many of the iconic locations used in Amazon Prime Video’s hit series. Created by Amy Sherman-Palladino, the Emmy Award-winning The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel stars Rachel Brosnahan as Miriam “Midge” Maisel, a quick-witted former housewife struggling to make a career for herself in stand-up comedy. Mrs. Maisel recently ended its fourth season, with a fifth and final season currently in production.

Along with Midge and the eccentric cast of characters she’s surrounded by, including her foul-mouthed manager Susie Myerson (Alex Borstein), her mathematician father Abe Weissman (Tony Shalhoub), and her ex-husband Joel Maisel (Michael Zegen), New York City itself is a distinctive character in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Midge travels all across Manhattan (and beyond) in the series, from her Upper West Side apartment to the seedy comedy clubs of Greenwich Village. Midge has also visited Harlem, Central Park, Astoria, Queens, and she’s even ridden the Wonder Wheel at Coney Island. The series begins in 1958, and it’s almost 1961 by the end of Mrs. Maisel season 4. The incredible production and set design of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel meticulously recreates the look and feel of period New York City, and many of the locations seen in the show are real places that are still standing and remain in business today.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Sites Tour is a fun and educational up-close-and-personal way to walk the same streets, drink in the same cafes, and explore the same locations as Midge and the rest of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel‘s loveable characters. Run by On Location Tours, guests will visit several iconic places seen in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel such as Washington Square Park, The Gaslight Cafe where Midge gets her first taste of being a stand-up comic and meets her manager, Susie, the Music Inn record store where Midge’s infamous stand-up set is sold on vinyl, Cafe Reggio, which is the first café in the United States to serve cappuccinos, and fans can even recreate Midge’s famous “We got the rabbi!” moment outside Lutzi’s Butcher Shop.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Sites Tour explores Manhattan neighborhoods including Greenwich Village, the New York University campus (which is Rachel Brosnahan’s alma mater), and the Gramercy area. The tour also visits other famous locales from the show like the Comedy Cellar and Kettle of Fish. In addition, the tour guides are local NYC actresses who share a wealth of behind-the-scenes info about the show. Screen Rant‘s delightful tour guide was Katherine Winter, who has appeared in several episodes of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Perhaps best of all, guests can go on the tours riding a vintage 1957 Chevy that was seen in the series, as well as a Studebaker that appeared in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 2.

Although The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel will soon end with season 5, the series has left a lasting mark on pop culture and the show is now an indelible part of New York City’s iconic heritage. Even though The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is set almost 60 years ago, it’s eye-opening to realize how much of Midge’s New York is still standing and to see where the series filmed so many memorable moments. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Sites Tour is a great way to recreate Midge Maisel’s life and see New York City through her eyes.
