Emmy Rossum Reveals She Nearly Gave Birth in an Uber On the Way to the Hospital: ‘My Worst Nightmare’
Emmy Rossum is sharing her very memorable birth story!
During an interview on Live with Kelly and Ryan this week, the 35-year-old Shameless actress shared that her May 2021 birth experience was “just about [her] worst nightmare.”

“I ended up getting a lovely and very conscientious Uber driver, which is not what you want when you’re in labor,” she joked. “I want[ed] to go [fast].”
Emmy said that she told her driver to interpret every yellow light as a green since she was “fully in contractions” and “nine centimeters dilated.”
She continued, “I was basically 10 minutes away from having a child. It had progressed very quickly.”
The Angelyne star recalled telling her driver to “go, go, go,” and added: “He was like … ‘I want to get you there safely.’ I was like, ‘I would like that too. I would like to get there.’”
Emmy and her husband Sam Esmail ultimately arrived at the hospital on time. She went on to announce the birth of their daughter on social media the next day.
