Liam Gallagher Revealed He Hasn’t Seen His Brother, Noel, In 10 Years

Liam Gallagher, the former lead vocalist of the UK rock band, Oasis, just revealed the last time he saw his brother. Oasis, originally known as The Rain, is an English Rock band formed in 1991. The band initially had four members, Liam Gallagher, Paul Arthurs, Paul McGuigan, and Tony McCarroll, until Liam’s brother Noel Gallagher joined the group.

Despite their numerous breaking up, firing, and hiring moments, the band lasted almost twenty years together before officially splitting in 2009. The split was reportedly due to the constant bickering between the two brothers, a fight that is still on over a decade later. Since they broke up, the two brothers haven’t held back when talking about their current relationship.

In a recent interview with Esquire, Liam revealed that the last time he saw his brother was around 10 years ago. The duo worked on a documentary together last year but apparently never directly made contact with each other during the process.

Liam admitted that he hadn’t seen his brother and former member of Oasis, Noel, in around 10 years. The band officially split in 2009 after constantly breaking up and getting back together during their 20 years together. The split was mainly due to the continually bickering brothers, who are apparently still not on good terms.

Since the split, the duo has spoken about their strained relationship openly. In the Esquire interview, Liam revealed that since the band broke up over a decade ago, the last time he saw his brother was at a football match almost 10 years ago.

He said, “The last time I saw Noel was at a football match about 10 years ago. It’s a shame, isn’t it?” The former frontman continued, “The good times outweigh the bad times. I think it’s best to just leave it at that.”

Liam Said The Band Breaking Up Was A ‘Shame’

During the interview, the singer admitted regretting the band’s breakup mainly because he thought they could have done so much more. He said, “Everyone goes on about us being the biggest. We were the biggest thing in England.”

Liam continued, “And we were pretty big in Japan. But we weren’t that big in America, not at all. We never played stadiums in Spain. There was a lot more work to be done, so we shouldn’t have split up because we could have made more records. It’s a shame. I’m talking about Oasis.”

The 49-year-old admitted that while he wanted the band to get back together, it wouldn’t happen anytime soon. “I like to think Oasis will get back together, but not this week,” he said. “The door is ajar on everything. I wouldn’t be surprised if space aliens landed tomorrow. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were already here. I wouldn’t be surprised if God walks among us. I wouldn’t be surprised by all sorts.”

Liam And Noel Released A Documentary Together

Despite still not being on good terms, the Gallagher brothers registered for a joint production company called Kosmic Kyte in 2021 to release a documentary of the band. The production was titled “Oasis Knebworth 1996” and became the highest-grossing documentary in the UK after its release.

The documentary film was directed by Jake Scott and was recorded during the Knebworth Festival at Knebworth house between August 10 to 11, 1996. The film showed the weekend at the festival through the eyes of all the fans that watched Oasis perform.

Although they worked together on the project, Liam and Noel reportedly didn’t speak to each other while setting up the production company. The duo ensured that they didn’t deal with each other directly while working together.

Liam Gallagher Came Up With The Documentary Name

During an appearance on NME Big Read, Liam revealed that he was involved with the project solely because he didn’t want his brother to do “something ridiculous” with it. He added that he came up with the name for the project after disagreeing with Noel’s choice.

The artist said, “I can’t remember the name, but f–k he wanted to call the film something f–king ridiculous. I just went, ‘F–k that — it should be just called ‘Oasis Knebworth 1996.’ Simple. He was calling it, ‘Ooh, The One With The F–king Golden Ticket, Operation F–king Gold.’ Obviously he owns the key when it comes to the songs and that, but the image of it — I think I play an important part of [that].”
