All 81 Titles Unceremoniously Removed from HBO Max (So Far)

Warner Bros. Discovery’s crusade against its own content continued this week as 13 more TV titles were unceremoniously pulled from HBO Max.

Back in August, children’s programming and animated series were hit especially hard following news the company was tamping down efforts in those areas. But this latest round, confirmed by HBO Max representatives in a press release, includes more live-action series for adults, from sci-fi epic “Westworld” to adapted romance “The Time Traveler’s Wife” to period comedy “Minx.”

Reality TV on HBO Max has been similarly decimated over the past months, a decision underscored by layoffs in the company’s unscripted pision. “Legendary,” “Finding Magic Mike,” and “FBOY Island” were removed from the service this week as well.

“As shared on a previous earnings call and stated by senior executives, Warner Bros. Discovery continues to strategically assess how best to maximize audiences and monetization opportunities for its content,” the statement reads.

“The company has recently decided to license certain HBO and HBO Max original programming to third party FAST services to be part of a packaged offering which will drive new, expanded audiences for these series. As we prepare for this transition, these series will be coming off of the HBO Max service in the coming days.”

Series designated for FAST consideration include: “Westworld,” “The Nevers,”  “Raised by Wolves,” “FBOY Island,” “Finding Magic Mike,” “Head of the Class,” and “The Time Traveler’s Wife.”

“Gordita Chronicles,” “Love Life,” “Made for Love,” “The Garcias,” and “Minx” are also leaving the platform in the coming days.

The statement explains, “HBO Max is speaking with the studio partners about opportunities to further expand the reach of the shows, including but not limited to licensing [those five series] to third party FAST platforms.”

To be updated continuously, here are the whopping 81 titles, including movies, TV shows, and specials, that have been unceremoniously removed from HBO Max during the summer, fall, and winter of 2022. The yet-to-be-named HBO Max/Discovery+ combined service isn’t expected to debut until sometime next year.

Note: Entries appear alphabetically with children’s programming at the end. This list is not and could not be comprehensive, as some titles have been removed without announcement. Certain titles may still appear on the service for a limited, unknown period.
