2023 Oscars Predictions: Best Original Song

CATEGORY COMMENTARY: Variety exclusively revealed there are 82 songs deemed eligible for the Academy Award for best original song which include the expected tracks from Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Joe Jonas, Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez and LCD Soundsystem.

The only big omission was “Vegas” by Doja Cat, featured in Baz Luhrmann’s “Elvis.”

We also have surges of support for names like Oscar-winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul for “Do a Little Good” from “Spirited” and “Ready as I’ll Ever Be” by Brandi Carlile and Tanya Tucker from the documentary “The Return of Tanya Tucker.”

This list will get whittled down to 15, and the music branch always offers a few eyebrow-raisers. Not sure which ones those will be.
