James Corden Talked About Washing His Hair Once Every Two Months: ‘This Is A True Story’

Actor James Corden hosted a recent episode of “The Late Late Show” and shed some light on his questionable hair hygiene. Due to the mandate that residents of Los Angeles should reduce their shower time, the host brought up the topic on the show.

According to him, he timed his moments in the bathroom and usually got out within four minutes, and his secret to such a speedy bath? Unwashed hair. Corden revealed that he only took time to wash his hair once in two months.

The comedian recently extended his contract for a year with the CBS late-night shows. The 43-year-old revealed that his eight and half years on the hosting seat would come to a close before the summer of 2023.

Corden Said He Spent Only ‘Three Or Four’ Minutes In The Shower

Corden just shared his daily hygiene routine with his audience in an episode of “The Late Late Show.” In the show last week, the 43-year-old mentioned how residents in Los Angeles were told to reduce their time in the shower by at least four minutes to conserve the local water supply.

The host said, “I know when I’m in the shower, I time it to the minute. How long are people spending in the shower?” Reggie Watts replied that the average time was around 10 minutes. Corden seemed befuddled by the answer, then proceeded to shed light on his own shower time.

He said, “I’m in and out [of the shower] in a solid three or four.” The next few minutes saw Corden and his “Late Late Show” staff argue about the appropriate time to round up a bath, especially if other acts like hair washing were included.

Corden Said He Washed His Hair ‘Every Two Months’

In the middle of their discussion, the executive producer’s executive assistant Winnie Ng revealed that she washed her hair every day so staying in the shower for long was understandable. While responding to the staff, Corden revealed that he rarely washed his hair.

“I use soap, but I don’t wash my hair. I wash it about every two months,” he said. “That is a true story.” Winnie, appalled, proceeded to call the “Carpool Karaoke” star “dirty.” She said from the audience, “No, that’s not cool. You guys are dirty.”

“I don’t think we are nasty!” Corden replied. The host then turned to the rest of the audience and asked who stayed in the shower for over nine minutes. Several hands were raised, and the comedian declared, “See, you’re the problem.”

Corden Is Leaving ‘The Late Late Show’

Earlier in April, the television host revealed that he would be leaving “The Late Late Show” before the summer of 2023 after over eight years on the show. The 43-year-old’s contract was reportedly up, but he extended it by a year, but no further.

In an interview with Deadline, Corden said, “It’s been a really hard decision to leave because I’m so immensely proud of the show. I’m thrilled to be extending [for a year]. I always thought I’d do it for five years and then leave, and then I stayed on. I’ve really been thinking about it for a long time, thinking whether there might be one more adventure.”

The previous show host of “The Late Late Show” was Craig Ferguson, who hosted for nine years till 2014. Corden was brought in on March 23, 2015. While bringing him on was a surprise choice, the “Into The Woods” star made the show much more invigorating by introducing popular segments like “Spill Your Guts,” “Carpool Karaoke,” “Drop the Mic,” and “Crosswalk Musical.”

Further on in the interview, James Corden revealed that he would miss the “adrenaline” that came with meeting up with celebrities on the shows. The host’s “Carpool Karaoke” with Adele has over 250 million views on YouTube, while his episode with boy band One Direction has 189 million views with over 27 million subscribers.

Corden said, “I’ll miss the adrenaline of thinking, ‘Next week I’m going to jump out of a plane with Tom Cruise, or in two weeks’ time, we’re going to drive around the White House in a car with Michelle Obama or sing Penny Lane with Paul McCartney driving down Penny Lane.”

The “Gavin and Stacey” co-creator then thanked “The Late Late Night Show” staff for their support and help throughout his time on the show. “Out of respect for all of the [staff], I want to tell them that now and say that we can really go into this last year with absolute enthusiasm and passion and love,” the host said. “These shows are not built by one person. I’m very fortunate I get to work with some people whose talents and gifts just blow my mind.”
