Widely loved YouTuber JoJo Siwa was recently announced as a judge of “So You Think You Can Dance” alongside Matthew Morrison and Stephen “tWitch” Boss.

The seventeenth season of the award-winning dance show premiered on May 18, 2022, and Siwa’s feature on the program would be her first as a judge on a reality show.

Siwa appeared on “The View” on her 19th birthday to discuss how she felt about the new position while also sharing her pride in her sexuality.

The 19-year-old was proud to officially announce that she had been in the entertainment industry for a decade, calling the milestone “wild” and “crazy.”

Whoopi Goldberg, one of the hosts, added that the entertainment star had been doing great work, which Siwa appreciated.

Sunny Hostin, another host, noted that the YouTube icon was part of the new judges in the latest season of “So You Think You Can Dance,” which would not be her first appearance on a dance show.

She further recalled Siwa’s performance on “Dancing with the Stars,” where she and her partner made history as the first same-sex team on the show.

Hostin also wanted to know how the blonde-haired beauty felt as a moderator on a dance show after being a contestant on other shows for years. Siwa shared:

“It’s wild. This is my sixth elimination show that I’m being a part of. So it’s crazy, but it’s really cool to be on this side of it, you know? I think I am able to relate to the kids more you know than anyone.”

She also stated that she knew what it was like growing up in the current world, so she could understand the stress and pressure the contestants were experiencing.

Ana Navarro, a regular guest host, steered the discussion to the “Dance Moms” star’s sexuality, saying the singer had influenced her son’s recent coming out as gay to the family and everyone.

Navarro added that it was a big deal in her home when Siwa cut off her signature ponytail and asked why she did so while also wondering how it felt to be viewed by the whole world in that regard.

The enthusiastic guest replied that she had always wanted to cut her hair short since she was seven or eight, so she summoned the courage to ask her mom.

Unfortunately, her mother denied her request, but Siwa urged her to hear her out, after which her mom told her to ask her team for their approval. Her team was on board with the idea, which led to her mom’s eventual approval.

She further revealed that it was fun to have her latest hairdo, and she loved it though it admittedly made her dress more feminine, thus allowing her to “break the stereotype” of feminine women having short hair.

The conversation moved on to her influence on the LGBTQ community and her view of the gay laws to which the expert dancer advised people to live their lives regret-free daily.

She also said if she lived in a community where gay marriage was illegal, or she was not permitted to love who she wanted, she would move to a more accommodating society.

One of the show’s hosts later mentioned her “golden birthday,” and the co-presenters celebrated the milestone by prompting the spectacular confetti display and wishing her a happy birthday.
