Tyson Fury has taken exception to dad John's budding friendship with heavyweight rival Anthony Joshua.

The Gypsy King and Joshua have traded blows in recent months over a proposed all-British showdown, although it now appears unlikely after the two camps failed to agree terms.

Joshua insisted recently that he was confident the fight would go ahead, insisting "proper guy" John would do his all to make the heavyweights face off.

But Tyson isn't impressed and had a light-hearted row with his old man about his comments on Joshua. Speaking to iFL TV, the world heavyweight champion told John: "Whatever you have got going on with him, I don't like! Sever ties with the p****."

Fury then added: "He keeps blowing my dad off! All of a sudden he is my dad's best friend saying he wants to go for a drink with him.

"I was like what the f***! He doesn't want to go for a drink with me because I would punch him in the mouth."

Fury now looks set to face Oleksandr Usyk in a unification fight in Saudi Arabia in early 2023, with Joshua expected to take on Dillian Whyte in a rematch.

Many believe Fury vs Joshua would be the biggest fight in British boxing history – a view shared by John – but Tyson isn't convinced. And that sparked another argument between the father and son pair.

An adamant Fury added: "If it is in this country, there is only a certain amount of money that can be made between me and Joshua. If I fight Usyk in Saudi Arabia, I hear it will be for big dollars.

"Me vs Usyk is bigger than me vs Joshua. If Wilder had beat me twice, how would I be a bigger fight than the person who beat me?"

But his dad snapped back: "It isn't about money anymore. It is about this country and the place we live in and love. Everybody wants it.

"The nation has a love affair with Tyson and Joshua. Everybody that fights Tyson raises their game and change their tune – therefore AJ would be a different fighter."

The fight doesn't appear to be on Tyson's radar though, who insisted: "The nation has gone off him because he has been battered in his last two fights!"
