The singer, who has been in the industry since she was a teenager herself can see how much Spears is dying to get out and live life now that she can. “It’s very easy to kind of mock her social media posts,” Gibson said in an exclusive interview with PageSix.

“But I see somebody who is joyful and just dying to get out of that bubble. She’s a natural performer, so if she has to perform in her living room, on social media, that’s what she’s going to do,’ quips Gibson. “But I hope she finds her stage again.”

Gibson admits that she can’t relate to Spears’s time in Hollywood or her relationship with her parents.

Gibson recounts the height of her career when she says her mother, who served as her manager was fierce and wouldn’t let anything happen to her. “I’m very lucky because I had my mom and my dad,” she says.

“I spoke to my dad last night, and he is one of my favorite people in the world, and I have a great relationship with him.” Gibson’s mother died earlier this year but her relationship was just as close.

“I jokingly but not jokingly say she literally threw her body in front of anybody that was out to cause me any kind of harm, and she prevented any sort of #MeToo situation from happening.”

Seeing as her mother, Diane Gibson was so adamant about protecting her daughter, she wasn’t always welcomed in the room. “It didn’t always get her brownie points but got her a lot of respect, and it protected me. So, I’m really lucky that I had protective parents that didn’t want anything from me but for me to turn out sane and happy and healthy.”

Gibson. Now 52, remembers her mother as always being a protector. When she passed, Debbie shared great memories of her mom who was constantly standing up for her daughter and pushing herself into the room.

“I’ll never forget the meeting where she literally banged her fists on the conference room table at Atlantic Records with primarily men in suits sitting around laughing at the thought that I was going to produce ‘Foolish Beat,’ she recalls.

After that moment, Gibson’s mom set forward to prove the execs in suits wrong. “She’s like, ‘Well, listen to the demo. Deb has a vision. She’s the only person who should produce this record.’ And she fought for that creative freedom, got that creative freedom, and that put me in the Guinness Book of World Records.”

Gibson continues to work in the industry and has a Holiday album coming out this year. She believes that her parent’s support and fierceness propelled her forward and hopes that Britney can find that support permanently as well.
