H&M Shuts Down Justin Bieber’s Claims They Didn’t Ask Permission To Use His Image

Justin Bieber’s criticism of H&M clearly got their ears burning.

On Monday, December 19th, the “Purpose” singer ripped the clothing giant a new one.

“I DIDN’T APPROVE ANY OF THE MERCH COLLECTING THAT THEY PUT UP AT H&M.. all without permission and approval. SMH I WOULDN’T BUY IT IF I WERE YOU,” he wrote on his Instagram Story.

He followed it up with, “The H&M MERCH THEY MADE OF. ME IS TRASH AND I DIDN’T APPROVE IT. DON’T BUY IT.”

According to a Bieber fan page, @jbiebertraacker, the H&M merchandise included a short sweatshirt dress featuring a black-and-white picture of Bieber himself, and a bright pink oversize hoodie reading: “I miss you more than life.” That line is a lyric from Bieber’s hit song “Ghost.”

There was also a tote bag with multiple images of JB on it as well.

Justin commented on @jbiebertraacker’s post writing, “When everyone finds out I didn’t approve any of this merch smh ?‍♂️.”

A look at H&M’s French website shows they displayed tons of Bieber-themed merchandise, including an array of hoodies, tops, and phone pouches with the musician’s face on them. In addition, one hoodie features lyrics from his song “Ghost” and will be “coming soon” on H&M’s English website.

H&M got word of Bieber’s disapproval, and a spokesperson issued their own statement.

“As with all other licensed products and partnerships, H&M followed proper approval procedures,” the statement reads. “Out of respect for the collaboration and Justin Bieber, we have removed the garments from our stores and online.”

One fan replied, “I CANCELLED MY ORDER.”

“Even Justin said the merch is trash. Don’t buy it. I had a feeling this wasn’t his idea,” another wrote.

One fan suggested he should SUE H&M.

“On the one hand I understand it, it’s his image and he didn’t approve it, but on the other hand, there are many who want to have Justin’s merchandise, or anything related to him, but they don’t have enough money to buy the official merchandise and they’re looking for where it comes out cheaper just to have something of it. Hope i’m making sense,” one diplomatic Belieber commented.

We previously reported that many hopeful Beliebers thought they would get their hands on some merchandise at his “Justice” world tour.

Bieber Cancels His Justice World Tour Due To Mental Health

Bieber was scheduled to go on his Justice world tour earlier this year, beginning in February, but unfortunately, he had put it off due to his mental health.

As The Blast reported, he previously postponed the then-anticipated tour, meant for the entire of 2021, but could not happen due to COVID.

It was then pushed to begin this year but ultimately did not come to an end, to the disappointment of fans.

Announcing the rescheduling update in September, the “I’m the One” singer said,”So I’m going to take a break from touring for the time being. I’m going to be ok, but I need time to rest and get better.”

The 28-year-old then expressed weariness prompting him to make the best decision for himself.

At the same time, he assured fans that the hiatus would get him back on his feet in no time.

In his words, “After getting off the stage, the exhaustion overtook me, and I realize that I need to make my health the priority now.”
