Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk will go head-to-head in one of the biggest heavyweight boxing clashes of all time next year – but the fight won't come cheap to UK viewers.

'The Gypsy King' is fresh off the back of beating Derek Chisora this month, in a one-sided fight that was heavily criticised by fans and pundits. But the main hysteria related to the price, with armchair spectators asked to fork out £27.95 to watch it live on BT Sport.

That price equalled a PPV record on these shores, set in August this year when Anthony Joshua lost his rematch with Usyk. But that may be considered cheap compared to what the unification bout could cost in 2023, with the Middle East again appearing the likely location.

“If they [the broadcaster] put up some sort of guarantees, then they’re looking to recover their guarantees, which will determine the price," Fury's promoter, Frank Warren, explained to talkSPORT. “If there isn’t a guarantee and it’s done on a share basis, then again that determines what the price will be.”

And when asked if that price would be going up, the Queensbury supremo didn't try and mask the reality: "Oh yeah," he replied. "With the four belts on the line – without discussing it with anyone, yeah, I’m sure the price will go up.

“The same as if Tyson would have fought Anthony Joshua, the price would go up. They are the two big money fights."

The bout is yet to be signed, sealed, and delivered, which may prompt scepticism among some fans given the last-minute collapse in negotiations between Fury and Joshua earlier this year. February 18, February 25 and March 4 are currently the three dates up for discussion, and Warren implied a deadline was in place.

“Both fighters absolutely want it. The managers and promoters all want it, so we’re just getting it together and working out where we’re gonna put it on – that’s really the situation," he added.

“It’s gotta go on by March and so we’ve gotta all move quickly so over the next couple of weeks we will or we won’t get it sorted out. But everybody wants to do the fight, absolutely want to do it.”
