One-armed MMA fighter beats two opponents in one fight – and knocks one out brutally

The Epic Fighting Championship in Russia made headlines once again after a one-armed fighter got the jump on two opponents.

Three men entered the cage in May this year, but only one reigned supreme after a mixed martial arts melee that saw one combatant put to sleep. Despite their one-man (and three-arm) advantage, the duo in the losers' corner were made to look amateurish en route to a decisive defeat.

Disabled mixed martial artist Alexander Karapetyan took little time to dispatch one of his opponents, who failed to last even five seconds after the opening bell. After covering low in an attempt to block Karapetyan's early barrage to the body, the unnamed victim failed to see the incoming head kick.

After a brief pause, the in-house doctor put an end to the crumbled combatant's evening, with the fighter in the black shorts clearly confused. And just like that, the scale of Karapetyan's task was halved.

His other opponent at least managed to avoid the same stoppage fate and saw out the remainder of the two two-minute rounds. However, it didn't come without jeopardy as his one-armed assassin delivered a series of stomps and wheel kicks.

What Karapetyan may have lacked in a punching threat, he more than made up for with his cacophony of kicks. In fact, there was rarely a moment when the foot-flinging fighter wasn't in control of the bout and backing his opponent to the cage.

The crowd can't have been surprised when the judges decided in Karapetyan's favour at the end of the four-minute fixture. Though it may not go down as the strangest result to have occurred in the Epic Fighting Championship.

The Russian promotion has gained widespread notoriety for hosting one-of-a-kind clashes, from porn stars fighting dwarves to male-female matchups. One three-way battle was even dubbed (probably) the heaviest bout in Russian MMA history after featuring three fighters weighing in excess of 821 pounds.

Karapetyan has more than earned his place in Russia's fighting annals after overcoming the odds despite his affliction. And his feat serves as an inspiration as to what's possible in the face of great (or at least some) adversity.
