Emi Martinez has rattled an entire nation

The French Football Federation has filed an official complaint over Argentina’s treatment of striker Kylian Mbappe.

In the celebrations following Argentina’s incredible World Cup final victory over Les Bleus, Mbappe has received a lot of attention.

In particular, Argentina and Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez has decided to dish out some treatment to the PSG forward.

First, he asked for ‘a minute’s silence’ for the Frenchman in Argentina’s dressing room celebrations after the game.

Then, in the open top bus parade in Buenos Aires, Martinez held a doll with Mbappe’s face on.

It’s not just the goalkeeper who has been pretty brutal toward the 23-year-old, with some Argentina fans burning a ‘coffin’ for the footballer.

It seems like the French Football Federation (FFF) believe it’s all gone too far now, with the federation’s president Noël Le Graët confirming he has sent an official letter of complaint to his Argentinian counterpart, Claudio Tapia.

In an interview with Ouest-France, Graet said: “I wrote to my counterpart from the Argentine Federation.

“I find these excesses abnormal, in the context of a sports competition, and I find it difficult to understand.

“This is going too far. Mbappe’s behaviour was exemplary.”

Le Graët also criticised the online treatment of players such as Randal Kolo Muani and Aurélien Tchouaméni.

The FFF president said: “We’ve launched procedures to support them. It’s shocking.

“These are boys who have given the best of themselves to represent their country, so that the French team can succeed.

“It’s important that we support them.”
