Influencer Elle Darby Returns To Social Media After Hiatus Due To Racist Tweets

Influencer Elle Darby makes a comeback to Instagram a few months after taking a break from social media. The influencer’s hiatus started soon after some of her old racist tweets resurfaced online.

The Youtuber announced her return with a lengthy statement to her 600k+ followers that bordered around sending the “right message.”

Elle Darby Makes Social Media Returning Following Five-Month Break

Darby has returned to Instagram after taking a five-month break sparked by racist tweets she shared as a teenager. The YouTube star shared four slides of a lengthy statement to announce her return.

While noting that she has spent the last decade of her life working on becoming a better person, she had to take time off to “revisit a past version of myself, a very unhappy & hateful version.” Part of the message read:

“There are so many – countless – thoughts & feelings I have, too many to write in one caption or say in one video – they have instead been fulfilling in my life offline & will be enforcing in my presence online.”

She then stated that she was determined to comprehend why she held so much hatred in her heart and was willing to take full responsibility for causing pain to people.

Darby added that her break from social media was initially supposed to be short but she had to take the time to reflect, do some “deep soul searching,” and try to heal.

She admitted that her past is a truth that she would have to live with for the rest of her life but she just wants to learn to move forward by taking the first step. Darby then wrote:

“The most regretful & shameful part of my life has allowed me to hear you. All of you. I have had the opportunity to have been offered reflections on how I was showing up in the world, and what I can better do to evolve.”

The YouTube star stated that the first half of 2022 has been the most important part of her entire life, thus making it the best time to start a new chapter. She ended the statement by apologizing and toasting to being a “better person.”

The post has since received 0ver 4k comments, with many fans claiming that they’re happy Darby has returned to the media-sharing site.

The influencer followed the statement up with another two-slide post that showed her and her man, Connor Swift, spending time at the beach with their son, Saint Seven Swift. Her caption read, “A forever thing.”

According to Closer Online, trouble began after the 26-year-old’s 2011 tweets that included racial slurs surfaced online.

In the decade-old tweets, the mother-of-one insulted different ethnic groups claiming that she couldn’t stand Polish people and Indians. Disappointed fans and followers wasted no time dragging her for the inappropriate tweets.

Darby’s man was not left out of the drama as fans discovered his old accounts, which contained racist and hateful language. Amid the drama, the couple posted a joint statement claiming that the racist comments did not reflect who they were as people.

Darby also dropped an apology video on her YouTube channel, but fans were dissatisfied with it and referred to the three-minute clip as “insincere.” Some fans said that they were “irritated” by the influencer’s theatrics in the clip.

Before the tweets surfaced, Darby had more than 785,000 Instagram followers, but the number has since dropped to 651,000.

Darby’s fans heard nothing for a week until her clothing company, Angelle Collection, which she started with Swift in 2019, released a statement to their clients. The Tab reported that a TikTok user posted a video that included an email from Angelle.

Noting that its founders had been under fire for racist comments, the brand said its customer service team had dealt with several messages and requests for over two months. The email also included an appreciation shoutout to its many clients.

The band subsequently took to its social media page to share sneak peeks at their new collection. Within hours of the post, many fans flooded the comment section with pleas for Darby’s return to the internet.

A commenter noted that everybody makes mistakes and that Darby had apologized for her errors. The person added that she hoped the entrepreneur felt “comfortable enough to come back soon.”

Another person wrote that there were “lots of keyboard warriors in the comments” who could quit supporting Darby’s business if they wanted without dropping negative comments.

Yet another person shared a video pointing out that the Wiltshire native had removed restrictions from her comment sections.

It did not take long for Darby’s fans to fill one of her posts from December 2021 with pleas for her return. While one person claimed that the drama “will blow over and no one will remember,” another said that the racist comments did not affect them.

Several other fans stated that they had missed her posts on social media and were looking forward to her return.
