Fast X Casts Rita Moreno As Dom Toretto's Grandmother
Vin Diesel can add all the muscular macho blokes he wants to latest Fast & Furious entry, better known as Fast X. He's just topped them all with the baddest badass in cinema today. Yes, Rita Moreno has joined the cast.
No, as the video above shows, we're not kidding. Moreno is "tickled" to be taking on the role of Dominic Toretto's grandmother and if we know anything about that family (place your bets now as to how many times our Chris Hewitt growls "family" on this week's podcast), she'll be the toughest of tough nuts, and not someone you want to mess with.
Yet, the presence of more of the Toretto clan points to a possible story where some are threatened, especially since we know that Charlize Theron's Cipher is back causing problems.
With Diesel anchoring things as Dom, several Fast regulars are back, including Michelle Rodriguez, Nathalie Emmanuel, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Jordana Brewster and Sung Kang. And there are also those who've only appeared once before – including Scott Eastwood (from Fast And Furious 8), Michael Rooker and Cardi B, who both made their debut in last year's Fast & Furious 9.
New this time? Jason Momoa, who is reportedly playing another villain. Then there's Brie Larson, The Suicide Squad's Daniela Melchior and Reacher's Alan Ritchson.
With Louis Leterrier taking over the director's chair, the movie is still on course to arrive on 19 May next year.
