Ronaldo completed his move to Al Nassr on Friday night following weeks of speculation after he left Manchester United by mutual consent.

Al Nassr released a statement on Friday, saying: “History in the making. This is a signing that will not only inspire our club to achieve even greater success but inspire our league, our nation and future generations, boys and girls to be the best version of themselves. Welcome @Cristiano to your new home @AlNassrFC.”

Although his move is underwhelming to say the least, the 37-year-old could have one last chance to play amongst the elite when Paris Saint-Germain come to Saudi Arabia in January.

PSG are travelling to the Middle East for a mid-season friendly, where they are set to face a combined eleven of players from Al Nassr and Al Hilal.

Both Messi and Ronaldo will act as ambassadors for the Gulf State as they prepare to launch the bid to host the 2030 World Cup alongside Egypt and Greece and want both to be the poster boys for their campaign.

Messi has already made a state visit to the country and earns roughly £20m a year from promoting tourism while Ronaldo’s contract factors in a special clause in relation to his new ambassadorial role.
