Michelle Obama Reveals a Stretch Where She ‘Couldn’t Stand’ Husband Barack Obama
Anyone who has been married before will tell you that it isn’t always easy, including Michelle Obama.
The 58-year-old former First Lady opened up about her relationship with former President Barack Obama during a recent interview, and she was candid about some hardships they experienced.
More specifically, she said that there was a stretch where she “couldn’t stand” Barack and revealed when.

“People think I’m being catty by saying this,” Michelle said as a preface during an interview on Revolt TV, according to The Guardian. “It’s like, there were 10 years where I couldn’t stand my husband.”
The challenging years were when their kids – Malia, 24, and Sasha, 21 – were younger.
“And for 10 years while we’re trying to build our careers and, you know, worrying about school and who’s doing what and what, I was like, ‘Ugh, this isn’t even,'” she continued.
Michelle said that it was never totally evenly split.
“There are times I’m 70, he’s 30. There are times he’s 60, 40.”
Despite those hard years, she made it clear that she was happier to have worked through them.
“Ten years – we’ve been married 30. I would take 10 bad years over 30 – it’s just how you look at it. And people give up,” she added.
Speaking of her daughters, Michelle recently gave an update about how they’re doing.
