Everything We Know About Young Rock Season 3
The popular NBC sitcom Young Rock is heading back to screens for season 3 this fall, and here is everything we know about what to expect from it.

Everything We Know About Young Rock Season 3

NBC has officially ordered Young Rock season 3, which means it’s time for a guide to what’s known about the cast, story, and more regarding the next batch of electrifying episodes. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is one of the most bankable movie stars in the world, and at this point, it seems like just about everything he touches turns to gold. Young Rock has proven to be no different, despite Johnson only serving as the show’s executive producer and narrator. This follows Johnson’s previous TV success story, the HBO sports comedy Ballers, which ran for five seasons.

As was to be expected, Young Rock chronicles Johnson’s path from a small child to a college football standout to a pro wrestling icon, all leading to his present-day status as a big-screen leading man. According to Young Rock, Dwayne Johnson will attempt a run for U.S. president in 2032, but it remains to be seen if that actually happens. For his part, Johnson has always stopped at ruling out a political career when asked about his future, and polls show he might have a shot.

Unlike most TV shows, Young Rock has a natural stopping point, since after long enough it will have to be renamed “Old Rock.” For now, though, the adventures of a young Dwayne Johnson continue, with Young Rock season 2 delving into The Rock’s arrival in the WWE. What happens next? Here’s all the information available on what Young Rock season 3 has in store for viewers.

Young Rock Season 3 Renewal

NBC officially renewed Young Rock for season 3 on May 12, 2022. This came just a couple of weeks before Young Rock‘s season 2 finale aired. Young Rock is NBC’s highest-rated comedy at present, so its renewal was far from a surprise.

Young Rock Season 3 Cast: Which Actors Will Return

The supporting cast of Young Rock tends to change from season to season, due to different periods in Dwayne Johnson’s life being covered. However, viewers can expect Uli Latukefu to be back as 20-year-old Rock, as well as all the other Johnson/Maivia family actors to reprise their roles. Matthew Willig’s popular portrayal of Andre the Giant likely won’t be back outside of flashbacks, as Andre died in 1993, prior to Johnson’s WWE debut.

Young Rock Season 3 Wrestlers: Which WWE Stars Could Appear

It’s unclear what parts of The Rock’s WWE career will be covered in Young Rock season 3, but if it picks up not long after Johnson’s early days, there’s plenty of room to portray more legendary wrestlers. It would make sense for Triple H, Steve Austin, Mick Foley, and The Undertaker to continue to appear, as they all played a large part in the next several years for The Rock. If the Nation of Domination phase is depicted, then Faarooq, D’Lo Brown, Owen Hart, and the rest of the Nation should appear. There’s also Ken Shamrock, who served as The Rock’s first major singles rival. Some other major players of the time include Shawn Michaels, Goldust, Kane, Bret Hart, and Vader.

Young Rock Season 3 Story: Which Part Of The Rock’s Career Will It Cover?

Young Rock‘s season 2 finale ended on two big notes. The first was The Rock’s WrestleMania debut in 1997, which saw him wrestle The Sultan for the Intercontinental Championship in a lackluster match and be saved by his dad Rocky Johnson to a lukewarm response. The famous “Rocky Sucks!” chants also received a spotlight. The second was the 2032 Rock losing the presidential election. Given where things left off, it would make sense for Young Rock season 3 to look at Rocky Maivia’s evolution into The Rock character, his time in the Nation of Domination, and transformation into “The People’s Champion” in 1998.

Young Rock Season 3 Release Date Prediction

Young Rock season 1 premiered in February 2021, while season 2 debuted in March 2022. If this pattern holds, Young Rock season 3 should premiere in late winter or early spring 2023.
