Creed 3 Poster Reveals First Look At Michael B Jordan's Return

A new poster for Creed 3 shows off Michael B. Jordan looking ready to get back in the ring as the titular boxer. Creed is the Rocky spinoff that follows the boxing career of Adonis Creed, the son of Apollo Creed, one of Rocky Balboa’s fiercest opponents and best friend. Jordan starred opposite Rocky creator Sylvester Stallone in the first two films, which had Rocky acting as a mentor and trainer to Creed, who is now stepping into his own in more than one way. In addition to starring, Jordan is slated to make his directorial debut with Creed 3 in somewhat of a passing of the torch.

Jordan is joined by franchise regulars Tessa Thompson and Phylicia Rashad for the third chapter in the Creed saga, as well as new addition Jonathan Majors, who is expected to be Creed’s opponent this time around. Majors recently said he was punched in the face about 100 times during production, but that it’s “all okay.” Details on the film’s plot are scarce, but production has already wrapped as the film heads toward its November 2022 release date. However, one popular theory has suggested that Majors could be the offspring of Rocky III‘s Clubber Lang (played by Mr. T).

In a new post from Collider, a first look at a teaser poster for Creed 3 from the Licensing Expo in Las Vegas was revealed, showing off Michael B. Jordan as Adonis Creed. The MGM logo looms large on the poster, which is in a minimalist style, featuring Jordan looking strong and ready to fight. The poster also prominently features the November release date. Take a look at the Creed 3 poster below:

Stallone wrote and starred in the first Rocky film in 1976, launching one of the most successful franchises in Hollywood history, spawning five more films in the core series. In 2015, director Ryan Coogler continued the franchise with Creed, casting Jordan as the titular character and successfully carrying on the Rocky tradition with a new lead. Creed II was released in 2018 to critical and commercial acclaim and shortly after a third sequel was greenlit with Jordan taking on directing chores and Stallone announcing that he’d be stepping away from the franchise altogether.

The Rocky legacy is a tremendous weight to put on Creed‘s shoulders, but thus far it’s done a great job of carrying on the traditions that make the franchise great while establishing an identity of its own. It will be interesting to see what Jordan brings to the directing table for Creed 3, as the franchise now rests in his hands and all eyes will be on him to see if he’s up to the challenge. Creed 3 hits theaters on November 23rd, 2022.
