Laura Dern Says She Was Recognized for Taylor Swift Role, Not as Ellie Sattler, After Stumbling Upon ‘Jurassic Park’ Guided Tour

Laura Dern landed a starring role as Ellie Sattler in 1993′s Jurassic Park, which she reprised in 2001 and again for 2022′s Jurassic World Dominion.

However, the 55-year-old actress revealed that she was recognized for a dramatically different role when she stumbled upon a Jurassic Park-themed guided tour during a trip in Hawaii.

Although she expected fans to flock and want pics with Ellie Sattler, one fan wanted a photo for her role in a Taylor Swift music video.

What role, you might ask? A Swiftie recognized her as Stepmommy in the pop star’s “Bejeweled” music video. Laura opened up about the funny encounter during a recent interview.

Laura spilled the tea during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, explaining that she was visiting a friend’s organic farm in Hawaii. Parts of Jurassic Park were filmed in Hawaii, and she stumbled upon a guided tour that visits those areas.

“I was coming out of their farm, and there’s a guided tour of the sites of Jurassic Park with a little sign saying, ‘Welcome to Jurassic Park,'” she recalled. “I was like, you know, post-beach and seeing our friends. We’re getting in the car, and I’m standing right in front of this sign, and here comes a group of people.”

It wasn’t what she expected, though.

“This girl comes running up to me and says ‘Oh my god! Oh my god!’ I was like this is just… I just want to be with my family. Let’s not do a whole Jurassic Park…” she explained.

However, the girl asked “Aren’t you the girl in the Taylor Swift video.”

A good sport, Laura agreed to take a pic with the major Swiftie, posing in front of the “Welcome to Jurassic Park” sign.
