Uvalde Deputy Sheriff’s Daughter Among Those Killed In Texas School Shooting
The Tuesday Texas school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, left 19 children and two teachers dead before the authorities stormed the school and killed the gunman. In an ironically tragic twist of fate, one of the uniformed responders to the scene, Felix Rubio, a deputy with the Uvalde County Sheriff’s Office also lost his daughter to the senseless tragedy.
The massacre took place just days before the end of the school year for Robb Elementary School, and what was an exciting few days have turned into tragedy for the community and agony for the parents.
Parents Blame Authorities For Texas School Shooting

According to a CNN report, Javier Cazares rushed to Robb Elementary after hearing something was amiss, as it was his daughter’s school. He and several other parents, fathers especially, reached the front door of the school where they were stopped by the authorities from going in. Cazares spoke to ABC News, saying:
“There were at least 40 lawmen armed to the teeth but didn’t do a darn thing [until] it was far too late. The situation could’ve been over quick if they had better tactical training, and we as a community witnessed it firsthand. I’m a gun owner and I do not blame the weapons used in this tragedy. I’m angry at how easy it is to get one and young you can be to purchase one.”
Later, Cazares learned his daughter, Jacklyn Jaylen Cazares, 10, had been shot and killed. He blames the police and the school for the deaths of the children at the Texas school shooting.
Some social media videos show the frustrated and anxious parents verbally clashing with the authorities, urging them to go in and storm the gunman or let them go inside to get their children out. Texas Department of Public Safety Director Steven McCraw, the gunman was in the school between 40 to 60 minutes before law enforcement forcibly entered and killed him.
Distraught Parents Coming To Terms With Their Angels
Just 24 hours ago, Ryan Ramirez posted a picture of his daughter, Alithia, 10, on Facebook, writing, “Trying to find my daughter Alithia. I called all the hospitals and nothing.” Later, he updated a picture of her with angel wings. Alithia was one of the 19 children who lost their lives in a senseless act of violence.
Other children have been identified as well: Makenna Lee Elrod, 10, Eliahna Garcia, 10, Uziyah Garcia, 10, Amerie jo Garza, 10, Xavier Lopez, 10, Jayce Carmelo Luevanos, 10, Jailah Nicole Silguero, 11, Eliahana Cruz Torres, Rojelio Torres, 10, Annabell Rodriguez, 10 as well as teacher Eva Mireles, 44 and Irma Garcia.
Bodies of nine victims of the Texas school shooting were released to funeral homes on Wednesday evening, as per Judge Lalo Diaz, and the rest would also be released by Thursday for bereaved parents to make the funeral arrangements.
Texas School Shooting: Deputy Sheriff Lost His Daughter
At a news conference with officials, Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott confirmed one of the young children who was killed in the massacre was the daughter of a sheriff’s deputy. Alexandria “Lexi” Rubio as the 10-year-old daughter of Felix Rubio, a deputy with the Uvalde County Sheriff’s Office who was also on the scene of the Texas school shooting, died on Tuesday.
Felix and his wife, Kimberly, told CNN Wednesday that they were proud of their daughter, and that she loved playing basketball and softball, and wanted to become a lawyer when she grew up like her mother.
In a Facebook post, Kimberley wrote, “My beautiful, smart, Alexandria Aniyah Rubio was recognized today for All-A honor roll. She also received the good citizen award. We told her we loved her and would pick her up after school. We had no idea this was goodbye.”
One comment under this very post stated, “When I was a kid, the only thing I was worried about was losing my Pokémon toys on the bus. Kids having to worry about being shot is unacceptable. We can send $40 billion to Ukraine, but can’t help our own people.”
Many celebrities, including Texan Matthew McConaughey, have spoken out against this senseless tragedy as well, calling for stronger gun control laws, as have President Joe Biden and VP Kamala Haris.
