Naomi Osaka is officially expecting her first baby with her boyfriend and rapper Cordae. The tennis star revealed the pregnancy with an Instagram post, also sharing that she’s taking a break. Osaka also reflected on the past few years and months of her life, saying they’ve made her appreciate tennis more.

Naomi Osaka Reveals Her Pregnancy On Instagram

On Tuesday, Osaka made an Instagram post revealing that she and her boyfriend Cordae are expecting their first baby. The post was an Instagram carousel of an ultrasound screen with the caption, “Can’t wait to get back on the court but here’s a little life update for 2023.” In the subsequent slides,

Osaka shared a message in English and Japanese, reflecting on this new chapter in her life. She wrote, “The past few years have been interesting, to say the least, but I find that it’s the most challenging times in life that may be the most fun. These few months away from the sport have really given me a new love and appreciation for the game I’ve dedicated my life to.”

Osaka continued, “I realize that life is so short and I don’t take any moments for granted, every day is a new blessing and adventure. I know that I have so much to look forward to in the future, one thing I’m looking forward to is for my kid to watch one of my matches and tell someone, ‘that’s my mom,’ haha.”

Naomi Osaka Is Taking A Break For 2023

Osaka also promised fans that she would get back to tennis after welcoming her baby, saying that 2023 would be a year of lessons for her. She wrote, “I hope I’ll see you guys at the start of the next one cause I’ll be at Aus 2024. Love you all infinitely.”

The 25-year-old also added a “side note” for fans, talking about how there is no “perfectly correct path” to guide someone’s decision in life. She said she’s always “felt that if you move forward with good intentions, you’ll find your way eventually.”

Naomi Osaka And Cordae Began Dating In 2019

Osaka and Cordae were first romantically linked in 2019 after having their first date at an L. A Clippers game. However, the Grammy-nominated rapper later revealed during a couple’s trivia interview with GQ magazine that he didn’t know Osaka was a tennis star at the time.

He said, “If you asked me about tennis, before being immersed in it because of Naomi, I could only give you Venus and Serena Williams, you know? Because they’re just a part of the culture.” Despite saying that tennis isn’t really his sport, Cordae has often shown up to his girlfriend’s games, cheering her on from the stands. They even attended the 2021 Met Gala together.

Osaka previously shouted out Cordae in an Instagram post, thanking him for dropping all his work to be at the 2020 U.S. Open finals and support her. She posted a photo of them cuddled happily and captioned it, “Appreciation post for the mister because I feel like it today. This pic was right after winning the US Open finals.”

Osaka continued per People, “He stopped everything he was doing because I FaceTimed him a couple of days earlier and said I was feeling sad and lonely in the bubble. I later found out that he hopped on a plane shortly after that call and then quarantined himself for a couple of days in a hotel to see me and support.”
