Diego Luna's Rogue One Character Returns In Andor Show Poster

A new Andor poster debuts at Star Wars Celebration 2022. The event, which takes place in Anaheim this year, is set to inform fans of what they can expect from the galaxy far, far away in terms of content in the next couple of years. That includes a new Disney+ series, Andor, which is set to bring Diego Luna back to Star Wars, reprising his Rogue One: A Star Wars Story character, Cassian Andor.

Functioning as a prequel to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the upcoming Disney+ show will delve deeper into the character and his commitment to the burgeoning Rebellion. As seen in the 2016 Gareth Edwards film, Andor is all-in on the cause despite the massive task ahead of going up against the Galactic Empire. Aside from Luna, other familiar characters will be back in Andor such as Genevieve O’Reilly’s Mon Mothma and Forest Whitaker’s Saw Gerrera. Meanwhile, Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, Fiona Shaw, Denise Gough, and Kyle Soller join Star Wars in yet-to-be-revealed roles.

As part of Disney’s marketing campaign for Andor, a new poster for the show was released during Star Wars Celebration 2022. The official one-sheet focuses on Luna’s Freedom Fighter. Check out the image below:

Before it even debuts, Andor has already been confirmed for a second season — a major development considering that Lucasfilm tends to be conservative when announcing definitive futures for their Disney+ projects. For context, Andor season 1 is set five years before the events of Rogue One and takes place over the course of a year. Meanwhile, its sophomore season will directly lead to the events of the Star Wars anthology movie. Based on this, it seems like there will be some sort of time jump in-between seasons. Whether or not this is the case, this is a great opportunity to not just delve into the show’s titular character but also the Rebellion as a whole. As seen in Rogue One, the Freedom Fighters aren’t exactly noble in their actions as they are forced to do horrendous things for their cause.

Cassian Andor is set to be the face of the Rebellion, at least at this point in the Star Wars timeline. While Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, and Han Solo ultimately finished the job by defeating Emperor Palpatine, Darth Vader, and the Galactic Empire, it’s people like Andor who had been fighting for years that paved the way for the Rebellion’s success. It’s only fitting that Star Wars gives them the attention they deserve with shows like Andor. If anything, it’s also a great way to move away from the Skywalkers and tackle other interesting pockets of the universe.
