Hope Solo Enters Rehab One Month After Misdemeanor Child Abuse Arrest
Soccer player Hope Solo has decided to head to rehab to address her "challenges with alcohol" one month after her arrest.

American soccer star Hope Solo was arrested last month for driving while intoxicated.

As The Blast previously reported, police pulled over the 40-year-old former athlete in North Carolina and reported that her two children were in the backseat. She was charged with driving while impaired, resisting a public officer, and misdemeanor child abuse since her two children were found in the car at the time. The two-time Olympic Champion was taken for processing at the Forysth County Jail.

At the end of April, Solo posted on social media to let her followers know that she was headed to rehab.

Much respect for making these hard but healthy choices. Many, many people are rooting for you. The HOF will be that much sweeter when you get there.

You’re making the right decision. This is the first step for a better life. Unfortunately we all make mistakes, but it’s not about what happened, it’s about what your doing about it. I never thought I could do it but today I’m 12 years sober and you can do it too

Shortly after her arrest on April 1, Solo had posted a brief statement about the incident on her Twitter account.

“On the advice of counsel, Hope can’t speak about this situation, but she wants everyone to know that her kids are in her life, that she was released immediately and is now at home with her family, that the story is more sympathetic than the initial charges suggest, and that she looks forward to her opportunity to defend these charges.” The statement was signed by her counsel, Rich Nichols.

A day later, she posted another follow-up statement to Twitter.

“For those who have reached out showing love and support, thank you,” she began. “Our family is strong and surrounded with love. Our kids are strong, intelligent, happy and vibrant, and we are present everyday giving them the best life possible.”

“We will be able to share the facts in due time,” she continued. “In the meantime, our kids are enjoying the NC sun, eating popsicles, and playing on our property. Life can be tough, but these are truly the moments that matter. I feel blessed to have this kind of love in my life.”

In 2012, Solo married ex-NFL player Jerramy Stevens and the two have two twins that recently celebrated their second birthday. Unfortunately, this is not the first time the former goalie has been in trouble with the law.

In 2014, Solo was arrested for domestic violence after allegedly yelling at a police officer and telling him that she’d “kick his a–.” She allegedly got into a physical fight with her teenage nephew and sister while intoxicated. In 2018, the City of Kirkland, Washington, dropped the charges against her after ruling that the incident was “unlikely to reoccur.”
