French Montana Says 50 Cent Was ‘The Biggest Genius In The Music Industry’

In a recent appearance on My Expert Opinion with Matt Hoffa, the “Unforgettable” singer recalled believing that 50 Cent was “At one point …the biggest genius in the music industry.” He noted that the star, whose birth name is Curtis Jackson III, would randomly pick a fight with someone popular before releasing music.

Montana said per Insider, “He would just pick on you and drop a mixtape. Pick on you and drop an album.” He gave him credit for inspiring other artists to market their songs similarly. The rapper noted, “He kinda created that marketing scheme for a lot of artists to use.”

While people “did it before him,” the hip-hop icon became the “mastermind” and “warlord” of using feuds to promote upcoming projects. Montana, who praised the star in the interview, also fell out with him following a comment he made about a car he bought.

French Montana And 50 Cent Had Beef

The two artists once had serious beef with each other following 50 Cent’s comment on the “Keep It Real” rapper’s Bugatti, which was an old model. However, they’ve since made up as Montana called a truce after 50 Cent produced and sang the theme song for the 2021 crime series “Blowing Money Fast (BMF).”

In response to whether they were still fighting, the star said on a December 2021 episode of Drink Champs, “Man, let me tell you something. Me, I have no problem with 50 no more after he dropped this BMF joint.” He then noted how much he liked the theme song and praised the star. “That’s my favorite shit …shout out to 50.”

He added, “Yeah, me and him, everything is over after BMF. That’s the best work ever.” 50 Cent accepted his offer to put their feud behind them in an Instagram post. In response to Montana’s comments, he wrote,  “That was the right answer, French, well handled. What beef, I don’t remember.”

French Montana Narrowly Escaped A Shooting Incident

On January 5th, about ten people were reportedly victims of a shooting at a Miami restaurant where Montana was having lunch with friends. The star, who was there with his crew members to celebrate his new album “Coke Boys 6,” luckily evaded the incident. However, a bodyguard and rapper, Rob49, got injured in the shootout, per CBS.

Last night, I was in Miami celebrating the release of my CB6 mixtape w/ friends at a local restaurant. We unfortunately were at the wrong place, at the wrong time when an incident took place that left people hurt. Our thoughts & prayers are w/ the victims & families at this time

Montana, grateful to be alive, took to Twitter to explain what happened the day after. He wrote, “We, unfortunately, were at the wrong place, at the wrong time when an incident took place that left people hurt.”

The rapper also noted how sorry he felt for the victims of the attack. He said, “Our thoughts & prayers are [with] the victims and families at this time.” While witnesses immediately took Rob49 to the hospital, the authorities confirmed that there were no fatalities.

Nobody Died From The Shooting

According to CBS, following the incident, Delma Noel-Pratt of the Miami Gardens Police noted that she “believed it was an isolated incident.” The officer also confirmed that nobody died in the shootout and that some victims were still being treated.

Recalling what happened during the incident, Noel-Pratt noted that a “large crowd gathered outside the restaurant” while the shooting was going on. However, no one was able to give full details about what happened. The restaurant is strongly against bringing guns in, as a sign on their door reads, “No firearms or weapons allowed on this property.”
