Netflix Confirms Release Dates For Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon, Extraction 2 And More

Update your calendars, everyone: Netflix has just unveiled a shedload of streaming dates for its biggest upcoming movies. With a mix of sequels and original flicks, the service has another stacked slate for 2023 – and you can be sure the freshly-released teaser, showing off some of the treats coming our way this year, is predominantly a flex to parade the big-name talent attached to its next slew of movies. The trailer comes packed with brief looks of fresh footage from films that we’ve only had minimal glimpses at so far, too – watch the full slate preview here:

The big reveal in this one is the release date for Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon – a massive original(-ish, since it was initially imagined as a Star Wars project, and is loosely based on Seven Samurai) sci-fi project both written and directed by Snyder. It’s got a starry cast – including Sofia Boutella, Charlie Hunnam, Ray Disher, Djimon Hounsou, Cary Elwes, Jena Malone and more – and is officially hitting the streaming service on 22 December. We’re calling that the Glass Onion slot. Also confirmed is that Chris Hemsworth’s action sequel Extraction 2 (come on, surely it should be ‘Ex2raction’?) will be a big summer release for Netflix. Tyler Rake (we’re still not over that name) will be back on 16 June – this time chucking axes and batting away Molotov cocktails. The screenplay comes from Joe Russo, with Sam Hargrave returning to direct having helmed the first film.

Elsewhere, there are several intriguing projects – the Millie Bobby Brown-starring Damsel is due on 13 October, Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston will be back in Murder Mystery 2 on 31 March, stylised conspiracy thriller They Cloned Tyrone – starring John Boyega, Jamie Foxx and Teyonah Parris – is due on 21 July, and Gal Gadot actioner Heart Of Stone is coming on 11 August. Plus, there’s the Chris Evans and Emily Blunt drama Pain Hustlers on 27 October, Nicole Kidman and Zac Efron romcom A Familly Affair on 17 November, and lizard-centric animated adventure Leo coming on 22 November. Oh, and there's something called The Killer by some guy called David Fincher, featuring rising stars Tilda Swinton and Michael Fassbender – all names worth keeping an eye on. That'll be out on 10 November.

In short, plenty will be hitting our screens from Netflix this year – and coming off a trickier year for the service, with reports of lost subscribers, they really want you to know it. Stay tuned for all of the above coming to your living room in the next 12 months.
