Golden Globes: From Glitz & Glam To COVID Catastrophe!
The 80th Golden Globe Awards took place over a week ago and while many celebs were nursing hangovers on January 11th, some are battling an even worse hangover.
COVID-19 isn’t a term many of us have heard in over a year, but the virus is alive and spreading very well.
After the Globes on January 10th, multiple celebrities walked away with more than happy hearts. They strutted out of the Beverly Hilton Hotel with… COVID-19!
The Golden Globes Was A COVID Super Spreader!
According to reports, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michelle Pfeiffer, Colin Farrell and his co-star, Brendan Gleeson, tested positive for COVID-19 following the award show.
They’re all currently recovering from the deadly virus per BBC News.
Just a few days after the Golden Globes were the Critics Choice Awards. Pfieffer announced she’d be sitting out of the CCAs due to the virus.

“I’m so sorry to be missing the Critics Choice Awards today,” Pfeiffer wrote in an Instagram post. “Yep, Covid.”

Curtis also announced her “time out” from the award show circuit.
“Sadly, this head cheerleader is not going to be at all the weekend festivities cheering on her friends and colleagues. Life on life’s terms,” she wrote on Instagram.
Curtis added that she was “SO BUMMED” she couldn’t join the celebration at the CCAs.
COVID-19 safety protocols and testing have become more relaxed and inconsistent at award shows this year, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
One actress who was hell-bound on NOT catching COVID-19 was Jessica Chastain.
The Oscar-winning actress proudly wore a face mask, which matched the fabric of her gown, at the Golden Globes.
Jessica Chastain Side-Stepped Getting COVID-19
The actress was very nervous about getting sick due to her participation in New York City play for “A Doll’s House.”
“I’m a little nervous about getting sick, but I got my mask. I’m doing both,” she told Laverne Cox during her interview with LIVE from E! “You have to be so careful in the theater, because I don’t want to let my cast down.”
Chastain also showed off her matching mask and dress on Instagram.
“When the mask matches the dress ?,” she captioned the video montage.

The actress’ fans both applauded her and ridiculed her for wearing a mask to the red carpet.
Chastain responded to a Twitter user who shared a snap of her masked appearance and wrote, “and you know who didn’t get COVID at the Golden Globes?”
She retweeted the photo with the caption, “Phew!”

Others commented on the tweet writing, “Thank you. ❤️your leadership,” and “Good on you!”
However, Chastain also bumped elbows with Farrell and Curtis during the awards ceremony.
So, there were some naysayers on social media ridiculing her for “barely wearing” her mask.
