Jason Oppenheim Gets Weepy Over Chrishell Stause Split During ‘Selling Sunset’ Reunion

“Selling Sunset” might have had its ups and downs, but one thing was evident to all: Jason Oppenheim and Chrishell Stause were a very enviable couple.
However, the pair split in December 2021 as they were on the same page regarding expanding their family unit in the future.
While they have broken up for months now, their relationship continues to become a plot in the series. Oppenheim has been vocal about his continued feelings for Chrishell. He took it a notch higher during the “Selling Sunset” reunion, which aired this Friday on Netflix.

‘She’s Still The Love Of My Life”
In a never-before-seen video clip, Oppenheim opened to co-star Mary Fitzgerald about the split, primarily discussed in the fifth season of the series.
During the opening credits of the clip, Oppenheim could be seen struggling to watch and had to grab on co-star Fitzgerald for support.
In the footage, he goes to extra lengths to declare her as the love of his life and expresses regrets about letting her go.
In another scene, he was questioned by reunion host Tan France concerning the situation of things between him and his ex. “I think there is a lot to work through, and we are getting there.”
Chrishell also added that they hadn’t had the space to move in yet as the series kept on re-opening their wounds.
“It’s complicated,” she noted. “It’d have been good to have space and find that separation where we can. No one did anything wrong, which makes it harder.”
While there are still emotions between the pair, there seems to be no ill-will on either side. When Stause arrived for the reunion in a flowing-length red gown, she struggled with climbing the stairs. Thankfully, Oppenheim came to her rescue by offering his arm and helping her down the stairs.
Their Relationship Was Never A ‘Showmance’
While speaking at the reunion, Oppenheim balked at the idea that their relationship was purely for the cameras.
“I hesitate to answer that question,” Jason shares with France. “I do not want to give it any credence. That is like asking myself if the Earth is flat. It is a stupid question to me. I do not feel the need to explain to people that…you know, a very meaningful [relationship]… ”
At this time, the once stoic Oppenheim begins to tear up. Chrishell also tries to force away tears from her eyes, but they come anyway.
“There is a lot of sadness and loss. I think watching the show made it more difficult,” Oppenheim continues after composing himself. “It brought it all back up. It’s been a few months, but I’m still just going through stuff. I think there was a lot of love between us, and there still is, and I still care about her very much. This has been a very difficult break-up.”
This Is Not The First Time Oppenheim Has Hinted About Struggling With The Break-Up
He previously opened up to UsWeekly that it was challenging to go through season five, which explored the intricacies of their previous relationship.
“My excitement is tempered by the fact I don’t want to relieve the most difficult loss I’ve ever had to deal with. He added that he was still working through “a lot of emotion and pain and sadness,” which might take a while.”
Oppenheim also noted that he was not in the headspace for another relationship as he was still “reeling” from the split.
“I’m not looking to start another relationship. I am not in the right headspace for that right now. I am still reeling from the break-up, one thing at a time.”
The Split Was As A Result Of Their Inability To Compromise
As many fans would know, their break-up came down to differing choices regarding having children. “We have different wants regarding a family,” the actor posted on his Instagram.
Chrishell, on the other hand, addressed the split in a now-deleted Instagram post, where she explained her reasons for the break.

“Although my initial reaction to a private situation was to not speak on it, sometimes it is just easier to live transparently because we only get one chance at this life. I very much hope to one day have a family and decisions I make at this point are with that goal in mind.”
At the time, Chrishell was vocal about her intentions to settle down and have children. She claimed that she did not have the most “ideal childhood,” and now, she only imagines a situation where she gives her children the best.
“I have tried to get the success that I have so that I could pour, not just my love, but my resources into making me feel like I would be doing important work,” she concluded.
