Hip hop mogul Snoop Dogg is officially collaborating with Korean superstar group BTS. The rapper previously hinted at the collaboration, but nothing was certain at the time. According to him, he was still figuring out how to fit the collab into his tight schedule.

Some months later, Snoop revealed that the track was currently underway, and his vocals were included. When talking about the collab, he described the project as “good music” and a “vibe.”

This isn’t Snoop’s first time partnering with an Asian act. As far back as 2013, the “Doggystyle” artist got in the studio with popular South Korean groups and artists like 2NE1, Psy, and some others. Snoop referred to collabs like this in a recent interview as something he was familiar with.

Snoop Dogg Says His Part On The BTS Collab Is Ready

Snoop Dogg just recorded vocals for a track with Korean pop group BTS. The rapper previously mentioned partnering with the group in a number of interviews over the last few months. The “Gin and Juice” rapper told Danielle DeLaite of The Buzz that his “parts” were already on the track.

In an interview on the American Song Contest red carpet show, the 50-year-old said, “You gotta talk to them, but my parts are in.”

Snoop first mentioned his collaboration with BTS in February via a Clubhouse in Mogul Talk chat. At the time, the collab wasn’t set in stone.

When talking about the partnership, Snoop said, “I got a group named BTS that’s waiting on me to do a song with them right now, and I’m trying to figure out if I got time to do that s–t.” The “Drop It Like It’s Hot” artist added that his nephew updated him about the group’s popularity at the time. He added, “[He] showed me five motherf–kers who look like the Asian New Edition. I said, ‘OK.'”

Snoop Dogg Said The Track With BTS Is ‘Good Music’

In March, Snoop appeared in a separate interview with AV Club on the American Song Contest and gave some updates on the anticipated collab. According to him, the track’s creation was already underway and was a “vibe.”

“The BTS experience you keep talking about. I’m going to let them tell you about it. It’s official, like a referee with a whistle. I love that entertainment world,” the rap veteran said. “It’s good music. It’s [a] vibe. I make good music. They make good music. And we end up doing this. This is what it’s always about, bringing our worlds together.”

Snoop Dogg Has Worked With Other Asian Stars In The Past

Besides his ongoing plans with BTS, Snoop has had other collaborations with Asian acts. One of which is his “Qualified” track with Yung Raja from Singapore. The song also featured Larry June and October London from “Snoop Dogg Presents Algorithm (Global Edition).”

Not long after PSY’s 2013 hit “Gangnam Style” went viral, Snoop partnered with the South Korean label owner, singer, and rapper for “Hangover.” Other Asian artists he has tracks with include K-pop groups like Girls’ Generation and 2NE1.

Back in 2013, Snoop performed in a concert with 2NE1. The artists performed Snoop’s “Drop It Like It’s Hot” together. Talking about his time recording with Asian stars, the rapper said, “I’ve been experiencing the K-pop experience for a long time, connected to the music world [and] scene. I got a record with a group called 2NE1 back in the day. Come on now; it’s what I do.

BTS Referenced ‘Doggystyle’ In ‘Hip Hop Phile

While BTS hasn’t said much about their confirmed collab with the “Young, Wild & Free” artist, they are definitely fans of the rap veteran. The group previously showed admiration for Snoop when they referenced the 50-year-old’s 1993 hit album “Doggystyle” in their 2014 single, “Hip Hop Phile” from “Dark & Wild.”

Later on, in 2015, BTS member RM partnered with a collaborator of Snoop’s and fellow rapper Warren G. The duo released a single titled “PDD.”

In an interview with BBC Radio 1 last year, Suga of BTS revealed that the group was planning to work on more hip hop music in their future albums. He said, “I’m sure we’ll have more hip hop tracks in future albums. So if you’d like to hear more of them, you shouldn’t have to wait too long. They might be released one day.”
