Chelsea Handler recently gushed about her boyfriend Jo Koy’s reaction to her complaint of cellulite. The couple publicly started dating in September 2021; however, they were friends for almost 20 years.

When talking about their relationship, Handler revealed that Koy liked her because of her confidence and refusal to take less from anyone. The comedian gushed about how happy she felt in the relationship, saying that she didn’t need to “shrink” herself for him.

Handler revealed that Koy called her cellulite “sexy” and that the dimples were what made a woman. The comedian also recounted a time Koy left home as late as 2:30 a.m. in New York to buy her some tampons she needed at the time.

Chelsea Handler Said Jo Koy Helped Her Appreciate Her Body

Handler’s boyfriend is in love with every inch of her, cellulite and stretch marks included. On Tuesday, the stand-up comedian made a surprise appearance during a comedy show in Los Angeles. While warming up the audience for Koy, the 47-year-old talked about her relationship with the fellow comedian and how he helped her love her body.

Handler mentioned an incident in Hawaii where she talked disappointingly about having cellulite on her arms and hadn’t noticed it previously. Koy apparently shut the comment down by calling the dimples “sexy” and that they were “what makes a woman a woman.”

Via Today Handler recalled, “He goes, ‘Honey, cellulite is what makes a woman a woman. That’s f–king sexy. The more, the merrier. I’m like, ‘Is that a sentence?! Hold on, let me write that down.”

Koy Said Women With Cellulite Are ‘Tough’

The comedian previously talked about how Koy left home by 2:30 a.m. in New York to buy tampons for her. “I said to him, ‘You have redeemed my faith in men. Meeting you has made me understand that there has to be more men like you out there,” Handler said. “And we all need to know that.”

When Koy finally came on, the comedian confirmed his love for cellulite by saying, “cellulite is sexy.” He also said he thought women without the dimples hadn’t “seen anything. “If you don’t have cellulite, then I mean … let me see a dimple,” he said. “When there’s nothing, I’m like, ‘What is that? That hasn’t seen anything.'”

The 50-year-old added that dimples and stretch marks were needed and that women with them were “tough” and “can do anything.” He said, “We need s—. We need dimples and stretch (marks). That kind of a woman… can do anything. Not sexually, just anything! That’s a tough f–king woman.”

Handler And Koy Were Friends Before Dating

Handler and Koy publicly came out as a couple in September, and the 47-year-old hasn’t stopped gushing about his impact on her life. Prior to their announcement, the duo were good friends for almost 20 years.

While talking about their relationship, Handler revealed that Koy especially loved her “confidence and my unwillingness to “take s–t from anybody.” She continued, “Instead of having to shrink my personality, I can be completely myself.”

The 47-year-old said being with Koy made her realize that finding love was something everyone could achieve. During an October episode of her “Dear Chelsea” podcast, she said, “I just want women to understand, like, if I fell in love with somebody and I feel this way, so excited and committed and devoted, then I really do believe there is a kid for every pot.”

Chelsea Handler And Jo Koy Met Through Jon Lovitz

The couple were introduced to each other long before they became famous. Koy revealed that Jon Lovitz made the introductions during one of his sets. The 50-year-old also said that before pitching her show, “Chelsea Lately,” to networks, Handler asked him to be her “sidekick.”

However, Koy declined and instead pursued his career in stand-up comedy while still working at Nordstrom Rack. The comedian still made the occasional appearance on Handler’s show, and the duo continued to be friends.

In an episode of “Dear Chelsea,” the couple talked about how they eventually lost touch but started talking again during quarantine. Koy reportedly asked Handler to help with the intro for his book, “Mixed Plate.”

Koy said, “It went from lunch to lunch and coffee, then lunch, coffee and ‘What are we having for dinner?’ And then from lunch, coffee, dinner to ‘Let’s have a drink.'”
