The cancellation of “Gossip Girl” hasn’t caused Jordan Alexander, a Canadian actress, and star of the show, any resentment or unhappiness. The HBO series was recently canceled after just two seasons, to the shock of fans who were anxious for the revival.

Hopes for “Gossip Girl’s” continuation may not be dashed entirely, as Joshua Safran, the shows creator, shared that there’s a frantic search for a new home.

During a chat with TMZ, the “Gossip Girl” star explained that she wasn’t so happy it got canceled but maintained that she is looking on the positive side of the whole situation.

The actress said, “I’m just happy it happened; I’m genuinely just happy it happened at all.”

Alexander, who starred as Julien Calloway in the show, told the media outlet that “starring in the series was the greatest experience of her life,” and she will be happy to do it again should it find a new home.

‘Gossip Girl’ Revival Was Canceled

To the dismay of fans, Safran confirmed on his Instagram page that the “Gossip Girl” revival had been canceled. “So here’s the goss: it is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to announce GOSSIP GIRL will not be continuing on HBO Max,” he wrote along with a photo of the show’s actors.

He continued, “The EPs and I will forever be grateful to the network and studio for their faith and support; the writers for their devious brains and dexterous talent; the superstar cast for being the greatest of collaborators and friends; and the crew for their hard work, dedication, and love for the project. This was honestly the greatest set I ever worked on, top to bottom.”

HBO Max also confirmed Gossip Girl’s cancellation in a statement, per Variety, where they revealed how “grateful” they were to Safran and the other showrunners for “bringing us back to the Upper East Side and all the scandals at Constance Billard.”

It continued, “Although we are not moving forward with a third season of Gossip Girl, we thank them for the enticing love triangles, calculated backstabbing, and impeccable fashion this series brought to a new audience.”

‘Gossip Girl’ Cancellation Sends Fans Into A Frenzy

After news that a third season of the show would not air, fans took to social media to express their dissatisfaction about it.

One fan reacting to the news penned, “It’s a shame because the diversity of this cast was absolutely stunning to watch.”

“WE WOULD’VE FINALLY GOT FREE OF KATE OH GOD I NEED A SEASON 3,” a devastated fan wrote.

A heartbroken fan of the show said, “watching the final episode [of ‘Gossip Girl’] realizing I won’t see them again made me sad .. they will always be missed.”

“Gonna miss gossip girl reboot, but I wonder what they would’ve done in s3 bc they all found out gg’s identity in the finale,” another fan noted.

All Hope Is Not Lost For ‘Gossip Girl’

The reality of a third season of the show’s reboot may not be entirely dashed as Safran explained that they were searching for a new platform to air “Gossip Girl” and that it may return sometime in the future.

“We are currently looking for another home, but in this climate, that might prove an uphill battle, and so if this is the end, at least we went out on the highest of highs,” Safran said in his statement.

“A big thank you to all the GG fans around the world. You’re the reason we came back in the first place, and who knows, maybe the reason we will meet again. Much love,” he concluded.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for “Gossip Girl,” but Safran didn’t show much optimism in another interview.

While speaking with Vanity Fair, he revealed that it was “very expensive” to run the show, and he doesn’t think they’ll get another home to air “Gossip Girl” as all platforms are cutting costs.

“I don’t think we will end up anywhere. We are, again, so expensive. I am so grateful for having been given that. We were able to throw events with many extras in the biggest locations in New York that I feel none of us who work on the show—actors, crew—can believe we were even allowed to do,” he shared.

“And that costs a lot of money. But it’s all on the screen—I think this show is as gorgeous as any show on television. I just don’t believe that we will end up somewhere else because everybody is cost-cutting,” Safran added.
