Sadie Sink has officially bid her teen years goodbye. The former child star turned 20 earlier this month and revealed that her new age came with mixed feelings. The actress and model is known for her role as Max Mayfield in “Stranger Things” and Ziggy Berman in the “Fear Street” trilogy.

In a recent interview with People, the newly minted 20-year-old talked about her new age and how it made her feel “weird,” mainly because of the lack of “teen” at the end. Sink also revealed that while she didn’t entirely feel like an adult yet, she certainly felt “empowered.”

Sink also mentioned how timid she felt as a new child star, mainly because everything seemed “really new and scary” for her at that time. However, years under the spotlight made the “Fear Street” actress push through.

Sink Said Turning’ 20′ Feels ‘Weird’

Sink just turned 20 and is having mixed feelings about the age. The actress entered a new decade on April 16 and revealed that the age feels “weird” due to the noticeable lack of “teen” in it. She appeared in People’s “The Beautiful Issue,” where she discussed her feelings on adulthood.

“It feels weird saying 20!” She said. “There’s no ‘teen’ in it anymore. Because I started so young, my childhood felt somewhat fast-tracked. I think a lot of aspects of my life have been pretty adult, but I’m still playing a teenager. So I don’t feel quite like an adult yet.”

The 20-year-old added that although she didn’t feel her age yet, she was certainly feeling “a lot more empowered.” She said, “I’m proud of how much more comfortable I’ve become not only in my personal life but also in my professional life.”

Sink On How She Worked On Her Nerves

The actress mentioned how “really timid” she was when she first started because of how “new and scary everything was. “I think I was really timid when I first started out,” Sink said. Because everything was really new and scary, so it’s been nice as I grew up to not be as timid. I think I can speak my mind a little bit more.”

Sink revealed how she could push through her nerves after years in the spotlight. “You just have to keep pushing forward and then eventually be like, ‘Why was I so worked up?’ I feel like I’ve relaxed a little bit,” the “Stranger Things” actress said.

According to Sink, her career as a child star made her miss “a few steps” along the way, one of which was participating in musicals. She said, “I’ve always wanted to do one, and I was working, and I couldn’t. Maybe ‘Into the Woods’ or something [Stephen] Sondheim.”

Sink Said She Spent The Pandemic With Her Family

The newest “Stranger Things” season certainly took its time to be released. In addition to several other things, the pandemic reportedly halted the production of the popular horror series. However, for Sink, it was time well spent.

The actress revealed that she spent a lot of time with her family during the pause and went on long walks. “Spending time with family is big. It’s just good for the heart,” she said. “Also, walking has been really good —going on really, really long walks and getting over 10,000 steps a day. That’s been nice.”

Sink’s parents are Casey and Lori Sink. In addition to the “Blue Bloods” actress, the couple has three sons, Caleb, Spencer, and Mitchell, and a younger daughter named Jacey.

Sink On Her Approach To Beauty Products

On the topic of self-care and beauty, the 20-year-old admitted that she hasn’t quite found the regimen for her yet, be it a step-by-step skincare routine or the occasional face mask. She also added that her idea of make-up was basically non-existent because she used “pretty much nothing.”

She said, “If anything, I’ll brush up my brows or put ChapStick or lipstick on.” With age, Sink added, she might want to “try new looks” and use new products.

Sink revealed that she is content with experimenting with the occasional beauty product without stressing about it. When asked if she was scared of making a beauty blunder, the actress revealed that she was not. Sink said, “It’s not that big a deal. Don’t be too scared of it.”
