What Else?,Gemma Chan on a red carpet and other news for February 20, 2023

What Else?

Oh how I have missed seeing Gemma Chan on a red carpet! And whether you like a Gemma look or not, it’s always something to talk about, never boring.

This one might be polarising, with the corset cut out to accentuate the breasts, creating kind of like a reverse breast plate…or maybe a natural one. It’s not my favourite, but I appreciate the imagination here. The fact that the design is an attempt at something different. And also the colour. Because it might have worked “better” had it been in black, a colour that’s much less soft than pink. So the opposition here is the conversation – a hard, edgy look packaged in something that’s typically associated with light and pretty. Maybe that’s the intended energy of the piece. (Go Fug Yourself)

I don’t drink coffee regularly. When I do it’s decaf because I am a naturally caffeinated person and consume caffeine makes me way too wired. I’m telling you this because I am by no means a coffee expert which I guess makes my opinion irrelevant but I can kind of see where Ashton Kutcher is coming from with the orange juice and the coffee and the acid? It makes more sense to me than orange juice and cereal, which is apparently what some people are doing. (Dlisted)

I watched the first season of Shadow and Bone and I liked it… but weirdly I can’t remember much of it. All I know is that I really enjoyed the lead, Alina Starkov, played by Jessie Mei Li, and Archie Renaux who plays Mal. I don’t think I cared much for Ben Barnes. Anyway, the second season is coming soon and watching the trailer for it, now that I’ve spent so much time watching Chinese dramas over the last couple of years, all I can see is xianxia and the power of cultivation. Ana de Armas wore Louis Vuitton to the BAFTAs and I know at this point she hasn’t emerged as a fashion star but this …isn’t great. I don’t know if she was trying to channel Marilyn here but whatever the intention was, it was poorly executed. LV was much better on Hoyeon Jung and Sophie Turner. (Celebitchy)

You know those big red boots that have been viral for a couple of weeks now? People are still talking about them. And I get it. They’re ridiculous. And hilarious. And I kind of want a pair. I probably won’t get them, but not because of how they look but because I think they might be really hard to take off. (The Cut)
