New Arrivals for Netflix February 2023

Netflix is bringing tons of new original premieres in February 2023. Subscribers this month are going to be able to dive into new seasons of You, Outer Banks, and much more. In terms of original films, We Have a Ghost starring David Harbour, Anthony Mackie, Tig Notaro, and Jennifer Coolidge is looking to be the most-talked-about Netflix debut of February 2023. The family horror comedy comes from Happy Death Day and Freaky writer-director Christopher Landon, which is already reason enough to watch aside from the hilarious cast involved. For those who want to keep indulging in all kinds of horror, older films like Underworld, Ouija, and It (2017) are new to stream on Netflix this month too.

Plenty of classic films just got added to Netflix in February 2023, starting with Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy. Subscribers who enjoyed Luca Guadagnino’s recent film Bones and All can now stream Call Me By Your Name, also starring Timothée Chalamet. Similarly, Damien Chazelle’s La La Land just hit the streamer, making it the perfect time for a rewatch for those who’ve seen Babylon. Following the recent news that Will Smith and Martin Lawrence will once again reunite for Bad Boys 4, the first two films, Bad Boys and Bad Boys II, are available to enjoy from the comfort of home as well. Finally, the comedy musical adaptation of the popular children’s book, Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile is making a splash on Netflix this month with its streaming debut. Starring Shawn Mendes, Constance Wu, Javier Bardem, and Winslow Fegley, the film is a treat for the whole family.

Our Recs:

You: Season 4 Part I

Perhaps the most anticipated Netflix original release of February 2023, You Season 4 is split into two parts, with the first coming on February 9 and the second on March 9. The streamer found great success stretching a show’s relevance/popularity with this dual-release model recently with Ozark and Stranger Things. Penn Badgley returns as the killer Joe Goldberg, now under a new alias in Europe after removing his previous family from the picture and faking his death in You season 3.

These newest episodes will see Joe take up the job of a college professor as he seeks out his latest obsession and next possible victim in Marienne Bellamy, played by Tati Gabrielle. Marienne previously made her debut in the second half of season 3. New series regulars include Ed Speleers, Charlotte Ritchie, Tilly Keeper, Lukas Gage, and Amy-Leigh Hickman. It’s safe to say that no one is safe from Joe’s deadly grasp this season, which makes it the perfect bring this Valentine’s Day with your loved ones for sure.

You Season 4 Part 1 arrives on Netflix February 9, 2023!

Outer Banks: Season 3

Netflix’s hit teen adventure mystery teen series is back and looking to be more action-packed than ever. After the events of season 2, the main group of Pogues finds themselves washed up on a desert island, ready to get back on their race for treasure. Returning cast members include Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Rudy Pankow, Austin North, Charles Esten, Jonathan Daviss, and Drew Starkey. Carlacia Grant, who was introduced in season 2 as a new character named Cleo, has now been bumped as a series regular as well. Station Eleven star Andy McQueen joins the show as a villainous Caribbean Don who has different plans in store for the Pogues.

Outer Banks Season 3 hits Netflix February 23, 2023!

We Have a Ghost

We Have a Ghost is Christopher Landon’s first directorial project not connected to Blumhouse since his 2015 feature Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse. Based on the 2017 short story Ernest by Geoff Manaugh, the film follows a family who discovers that their new home is haunted but uses that to their advantage to go viral and make money on YouTube. Their son Kevin gets really close to the resident ghoul Ernest as they dive into the history of the house, unexpectedly drawing the attention of the CIA and putting a target on their backs.

Full of twists and turns, We Have a Ghost is looking to be another zany horror romp from Christopher Landon. Rising actor Jahi Di’Allo Winston is joined by big names like Anthony Mackie, Jennifer Coolidge, and David Harbour, who plays the titular ghost. Coming off the heels of his brutal performance as Santa Claus in Violent Night, this should be another vibrant turn for Harbour.

We Have a Ghost premieres on Netflix February 24, 2023!

Leaving Netflix in February 2023

The list of titles leaving Netflix in February 2023 may be short, but there are still some notable outliers worthy enough to add to those last-chance watch lists. Anyone excited about Scream VI should give a much-deserved rewatch to Scream 4 before it leaves Netflix at the end of the month. Many fans have finally come around to the sequel, which is also the final film from the late great Wes Craven, but there’s a strong argument to be made that it’s possibly the second-best entry in the franchise.

Moving on, Martin Scorcese’s Shutter Island is a must-see for any cinephile. Sorry to Bother You, starring LaKeith Stanfield and Tessa Thompson, is an unpredictable wild ride that has only aged better in the five years since it was released. For people who’ve already seen it, maybe now’s the time to introduce Boots Riley’s colorful take on modern classism and race relations to some unknowing friends before it expires from the streaming service.
