These 10 Actors Are Extremely Talented, But They STILL Don’t Have Oscars
The 95th Academy Awards is taking place soon. Many actors are nominated for their incredible performances, such as Austin Butler, Michelle Yeoh, and Brendan Fraser. None of these actors have Oscars yet, but there are many more talented actors who have never won an Oscar.
Here are 10 actors you won’t believe have never won an Academy Award.
1. Bradley Cooper
NBC / Via youtube.comOne of the most talented actors of our generation has never won an Oscar. Amy Adams, popular for her roles as Gisele in Enchanted and Lois Lane in Man of Steel, has turned in many Oscar-nominated performances over the years. However, she’s lost the award as many times as Leonardo DiCaprio.Her performances in Junebug, Doubt, The Fighter, The Master, American Hustle, and Vice all received recognition from the Academy, but she’s never won. The biggest crime is that she wasn’t nominated for her fantastic performance in 2016’s sci-fi drama Arrival.
3. Willem Dafoe
NBC / Via youtube.comYou know him for his terrifying performance as the Green Goblin in the Spider-Man movies. After being nominated four times for Platoon, Shadow of the Vampire, The Florida Project, and At Eternity’s Gate, he has remained Oscar-free.
However, he does have a new psychological thriller arriving in theaters soon called Inside, so maybe that can help earn that coveted trophy.
4. Edward Norton
Netflix / Via youtube.comEven with his iconic performance in Fight Club, actor Edward Norton has never won an Oscar. He’s been nominated for his performances in Primal Fear, American History X, and Birdman, but the Academy hasn’t awarded him yet.
Most recently he appeared in the Netflix film Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.
5. Jake Gyllenhaal
CBS / Via youtube.comActor Jake Gyllenhaal has recently made headlines for showing off his ripped physique at UFC 285 while filming the remake of Road House. However, you may be surprised to know the Academy hasn’t yet given him recognition.
His sole nomination has been for his role in Brokeback Mountain, despite churning out phenomenal performances in films like Prisoners, Nightcrawler, Zodiac, and Nocturnal Animals.
6. Naomi Watts
Vanity Fair/YouTube / Via youtube.comNaomi Watts has consistently given excellent performances for decades, most recently in a horror film called Goodnight Mommy. However, her only Academy nominations are for 21 Grams and The Impossible. Despite her excellent work in movies like Mulholland Drive and Birdman, her career has never taken her to the level of the Oscar stage.
7. Ryan Gosling
FilmDistrict / Via youtube.comBeyond his movie-star good looks, Ryan Gosling has established himself as an Oscar-nominated actor with his roles in Half Nelson and La La Land. However, he hasn’t won, nor has he been nominated for his fantastic performances in films like Drive, First Man, or his hilarious role in The Nice Guys.
At least we’ll be seeing him in Barbie later this year.
8. Glenn Close
CBS / Via youtube.comIt’s hard to believe a living legend like Glenn Close doesn’t have an Oscar. It’s even harder to believe that she can be nominated eight times without winning once. Hell, in the ’80s, she was nominated three consecutive years in a row for her roles in The World According to Garp, The Big Chill, and The Natural.
Her recent performance in Hillbilly Elegy didn’t get her the win, and all we can hope for is that one day, it’ll be time for this veteran of cinema to give her acceptance speech.
9. Angela Bassett
Marvel Studios/Disney / Via youtube.comWith her name recently making headlines for doing the thing (courtesy of Ariana DeBose), actor Angela Bassett has yet to win an Oscar. She was nominated once in 1993 for What’s Love Got to Do With It, but her nomination for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is her first one since then. The odds are looking good for a win this year, and one can only hope that it’s her time to shine.
10. And Tom Cruise
Paramount Pictures / Via youtube.comThis box office star has gotten a reputation for performing death-defying stunts in the Mission: Impossible series and more recently in Top Gun: Maverick. His strength as a dramatic actor has shone through, as he’s been nominated three times for Born on the Fourth of July, Jerry Maguire, and Magnolia.
He’s leaned into his action hero persona over the past few years, and he’s gotten some recognition for his dramatic work in Top Gun: Maverick. However, one can only hope that he will one day return to the incredible performances he has given in Collateral, Tropic Thunder, and A Few Good Men.
